Last but not least, congratulations to Annika Hylen! For her, the best part of her four years on the team were her teammates. At a show, lesson, or even the library, she made friends that supported her success in many different ways. Annika is graduating with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and minors in Biology and Engineering Mathematics. She will be moving to Salt Lake City to pursue a doctorate in biomedical engineering at the University of Utah. Ultimately, she wants to design novel biomaterials that can help both human and equine patients.

Next, congratulations to Aubrey Sieve! SLUET has been a huge part of her college career, serving on E-Board since freshman year. She can’t imagine the past four years without horses or the support of her wonderful teammates. Aubrey is graduating with a B.S. in biological sciences and minors in public health and sociology. She will be staying in St. Louis for the next 4 years to pursue her M.D. at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

Today would have been graduation, so we’re honoring our SLUET Seniors. First a big congratulations to Vito Díez Lamas, who came to SLU-St. Louis for her senior year from SLU’s Madrid campus. We’re so glad Vito, who feels, breathes, and lives horse was able to join us this year. Vito is graduating with degrees in International Business and Communication Studies, and a minor in Studio Art. After graduation she will be headed back to Spain to find a job, hopefully in book editing and illustration.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! May the luck of the Billiken be with you and enjoy responsibly by social distancing (what better excuse to spend more time with horses??)

A very special feature Friday, our outgoing President Grace Demas! Year: Junior Major: Nursing Hometown: Indianapolis, IN... Favorite horse memory: Placing in dressage state finals with her horse, Chance. Favorite part of SLUET: Amazing teammates to ride with year after year. End of the year note: I know the season didn't end the way we had hoped with the COVID-19 cancellations, but I want to personally thank our trainer Kate and everyone at Irish Fox for allowing us to become part of such a wonderful community! We are so grateful. A big shout out to our wonderful seniors who will be leaving us after this year. You have helped to shape this team and set us up for success after you leave! Thanks for showing us the ropes:) We look forward to continuing to grow and learn at Irish Fox. Let's get ready for next year and of course, ~roll bills~
