" It takes a village" is a phrase I've often heard. On Saturday our "Unity of Independence village" came together to hold our Annual Trunk Sale. Even with the added concerns amid the Covid 19 virus, everyone worked together to provide a safe, convenient place for those participating to be able to sell items they no longer use or needed. A big, big thank you to Rev David and Rev Warren for their time and efforts directing the event, even as they were in the midst of moving to ...a new location! Barb Taylor is always the genius who keeps the registration list accurate and up to date and the creator of the awesome sale pamphlets we see each year. Janie Pitt volunteered to come early to check in those who were selling items. Janie said participants were early, some were setting up while it was still dark! Tom Rice was the volunteer who graciously offered to set out the sales signs to advertise we were there, and later was also happy to gather the signs up and return them to storage for use again next year. Those signs were newly created this year by Rev David Adams, how he found the time, we don't know but we are glad that he did!. There are still more volunteers also! Jerry Snider kept everyone safe but volunteering to sanitize door knobs and facilities used by the participants who entered the buildings! A task greatly appreciated by all. Byron Lee and the 2 volunteers he brought were in charge of parking and directly traffic. We are all thankful he was there. After the event was complete , many of our volunteers including Barb were there to assist in cleaning up the area as needed. Participants told me how much they appreciated the offers to help pack up and care for any unsold items they were taking home. I'm already dreaming about next year! Thanks to everyone who made our sale a success, and know how much you are appreciated! See more
