Announcements from our November 2020 Monthly Meeting from President Kay Weber: Our election is completed and the winners are: Cindy Finnegan, secretary; Michelle Pearce, vice-president of membership; and Karen Goode will be our new president! Congratulations, ladies! Each year the StLGS Board of Directors shows their appreciation for the work done by our volunteers with a little celebration meeting. Unfortunately, that did not happen this year because of COVID-19. Instead, we... are announcing today the names of those volunteers who earned a special recognition. There are several processesscanning, indexing, and proofreadingthat must be done before a digital image of a record goes onto our website. The following persons helped process records to make them ready for researchers to find online, and will be recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation: Dave Carr Cindy Finnegan Angelynn Gross The next award level is Certificate of Achievement: these volunteers continued their efforts on processing records and working in our reference room: Janet Powell and Claire Arnold (processing) Cherl Wheaton (reference) Thank you all! I want to point out that members of the Board of Directors are not eligible for the appreciation or achievement awards, but there are two awards that are left to the discretion of the president that can be awarded to board members. With the first I want to recognize Program Director Karen Goode, who has coordinated the educational activities of the society for the four last years and this year was the driving force to bring our meetings, classes, speaker series, and family history conference to a virtual reality. Congratulations, Karen! The second one recognizes a volunteer who literally has her hands on all of the publications for the society, as well many, many of the web pages you will find on our website. She also teaches classes for the society at the office (when open) and in the community. Congratulations to Ilene Murray, our publications director! This is the last society meeting of 2020 and my last as president. Thank all of you for all your help and support during the last four years. It’s been an experience I will never forget!
