Let's make sourdough bread in a cast iron Dutch oven! It turned out so pretty!!! This is the first time I made a round loaf instead of putting it into a bread pan.

The type of breakfasts that I love to make in the spring: Dutch Baby Pancake topped with whipped cream, drizzled in violet syrup and garnished with violets. okra, and a berry smoothie. Dutch Baby Pancakes are so easy to make! ... 3 eggs 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 milk Pinch of nutmeg 1 tbsp sugar (woops, I forgot this!) 1 tsp vanilla extract In pan: 4 tbsp butter Heat oven to 425 degrees. Blenderize all ingredients except butter until smooth. Put the butter in a 10 inch cast iron pan. Melt in oven, watch to make sure butter doesn't burn. Take pan out and pour batter in. Return to oven for about 20 minutes or until pancake is golden in color. Top with fruit, whipped cream, sugar, powdered sugar, etc.

It was wonderful to have a warm and sunny day that I didn't have to work away from home. There is SO much to be done around the Secret Garden. Dead plants need to be cut down, repairs need to be done to the garden fence and the garden tilled, the weeds in my bed are coming out my ears, seeds need to be down and plants need to be planted. It's the third year that my asparagus has grown so I was able to harvest some for the first time and am in the process of brewing dandelion and violet tea in order to make jelly and simple syrup. How is Springtime always so magical?!

My babies are juveniles now! They have acclimated to the grown chicken barn and get along well with their grown counterparts.

Well, look what decided to show up! They are tiny this year! It has been a very dry winter, so I am assuming that variable effects the way they grow. Still, a tasty morsel!
