June 17th PCHS Zoom event! See poster below for details on Steamboat Disasters.
Copied from Platte County Back in the Day page in hopes of finding someone on this page who can help with info. Thanks! Looking for some information and/or clarification about an area known as Slash Valley. I know where it is based on older maps and those maps place that area a little south and a little east of Edgerton Junction. I know there is a farm on Z Hwy named Slash Valley Farm and I have seen comment that Thomas Means once owned all of Slash Valley but that is all quite a bit north of the area marked on maps as Slash Valley....so, my question is, what all is included in what is known as Slash Valley? Older maps do not make it appear to be a large area but a more specific area crossing the Platte River. Any history on the origin of the name Slash Valley?
PCHS long time member, Lu Durham, will celebrate her 101st birthday this month. Her address is below in the comments for those wishing to send cards.
Does anyone know if this is the Centenary Methodist Church in the covered bridge area?
Today! Stop by Weston Red Barn Farm or Alldredge Orchard to pick up a scavenger hunt or download from the website. We are open on Saturdays with an I-Spy activity for kids in the museum yard 11:30-2:00 pm
