Did you know... Online contact lens vendors abuse an antiquated system (created when faxes were still used) to get an 'authorization' from your optometrist. By the time we see the request for verification, they've already illegally filled the order whether you input the information correctly or not. Everything is fine as long as they make a quick buck, right? When they suggest you try switching contact lens brands, its because they just bought a whole bunch of the lenses in a... bulk sale, and are trying to maximize their profit off you. Not to mention, this practice circumvents laws written to protect you. But how do they get away with it? Easy! They just wait until they know we're closed to send automated robocall prescription verification requests. Who cares if its a weekend? If your doctor doesn't respond in 48 hours, that counts as a "yes!" Glad to see our leaders looking at the root of the problem finally.

Plenty of contact lens wearers have flirted with overwearing their contact lenses; counting on them feeling bad to let them know it’s time to replace. Sleeping in contacts or wearing old contact lenses deprive the cornea of oxygen, which numbs their sensitivity. In response to continued spread of COVID-19, our office remains closed to routine patient care. We are currently scheduling patients for non-emergency visits beginning April 24th, but this may change as the situation evolves. Our phones are forwarded to all employees, so do not hesitate to reach out with questions or emergencies! Reminder! Emergencies include new flashes or floaters in vision, a red or painful eye, or new onset of double vision. We are available for these emergencies!

At this time, our office is still open to seeing patients. As the situation changes, we will update everyone here. Please remember that for ocular emergencies like red eyes, foreign bodies, or loss of vision, you should always visit your Optometrist, and NOT an emergency room or urgent care. This is especially important given the excessive risk inherent in ERs or urgent care facilities at this time. Rest assured our office is taking all necessary measures to ensure that pat...ients are not put at unnecessary risk. Please be considerate of others. If any member of your household is sick or you have been sick within the last week, stay home.

One of the joys of practicing in your hometown is the built in relationships that come with that.
