September 11, 2001. American Airlines flight 77 is hijacked by terrorists and hits the Pentagon, causing 184 fatalities. Specific to the Department of the Navy ...(DON), the fatalities are: 33 military personnel, six civilians, and three contractors. American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 hit the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center, New York City. Congrats to the 81 recruits who stood in front of thousands of people as they enlisted in the U.S. Navy, June 6, 2019. This group of new recruits make up the 61...st Annual Recruit Cardinal Division. Cardinal Division is unique as it is the Navy’s longest-running special recruit division. Since 1958, NRD St. Louis and the St. Louis Cardinals have worked together with the city of St. Louis and the St. Louis Navy League to form and sponsor the division. Administering the oath of enlistment in front of home plate was Rear Admiral Andrew Mueller, deputy commander of Commander, Navy Recruiting Command. See more
