A Duty to Intervene Policy was issued January 1, 2021. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies have a legal and moral obligation to intervene to prevent or m...inimize misconduct. The Jackson County Deputies Association, Chapter 3 is in support of the policy. Their support displays their understanding of the need to increase accountability and a desire to continue to build trust in our community. Sergeant Blodgett and other leaders within the JCDA have a keen understanding of what is required to increase our level of legitimacy at the sheriff’s office as well as recognize the need for continued responsiveness to our community. Sergeant S.Collins is a ten year veteran of the sherif...f’s office and has been a supervisor nearly three years. It has come to our attention that someone by the name of Lt. Brooks is contacting citizens of Jackson County (in the name of our office) making claims about the need to collect DNA from them, and also stating that they have outstanding warrants. PLEASE BE ADVISED, we don’t employ anyone with that name nor will we ever make the claims that are being made. Don’t release any personal information to them, as we are attempting to identify to person(s) responsible.

Motivation Monday 10-12-20

Mark Wayne Sheets was arrested yesterday after taking authorities on a multi-city chase. He was charged this morning with Assault 2nd Degree Special Victim Felony, Resisting detention or Stop Felony, Stealing of a Motor vehicle Felony bond is $100,000 10%.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office along with the assistance of multiple agencies to include Lee’s Summit PD, KCPD, Blue Springs PD, Lake Lotawana PD, Lone Jack PD and Oak Grove PD were successful in apprehending a suspect wanted for burglary, multiple stolen autos, strong armed robbery, and vehicular assault on a Law Enforcement officer. The suspect fled from authorities crossing multiple Jackson County cities and was subsequently taken into custody after being located by K-9 following a brief foot pursuit, and an attempt to hide in a wooded area in Oak Grove. We also received assistance from Joe and Steve locating a stolen trailer (that were initially attached to the truck) and 3 golf carts. Thanks to Dream Machines Motorsports of KC for volunteering their UTV’s.
