WINTER WEATHER UPDATE: Our Winter Storm Warning continues through midnight tonight, accompanied by a Wind Chill Advisory that remains in effect until 6:00 AM tomorrow. In addition to what is already on the ground, we may see another 5 (approximately) of snowfall, perhaps a little more in spots, with the bulk of that coming between roughly noon and 9:00 PM tonight.... Bitter cold will persist. High temperatures today will struggle to make it out of the low single digits, with wind chill values approaching or exceeding 20 degrees below zero ALL roadways, from neighborhood streets to Interstate highways, have been impacted. We urge everyone to stay off the roads unless your trip is absolutely necessary.

On behalf of the Hawk Point Fire Department and the frozen HP Firefighters, I would like to give a huge thanks & a big shout. First, thank you to Joy Gauldin, treasurer of the HP Firemen's Community Outreach, Noah Burkholder, & Kayla Huber for gathering, preparing, & delivering hot coffee & hot chocolate to the firehouse for the firemen who were on scene fighting a structure fire in 1 weather today. As ironic as it seems during a fire, we FREEZE. Our gear freezes, our equipm...ent freezes, the water on the ground freezes & this gesture was much appreciated! As pictured, you can see the frozen water on the helmets & gear this evening. Thank you the the Hawk Point Vfw for providing coffee urns at a moments notice to make this possible for these kind individuals. WIND ADVISORY: The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory, effective today from 6:00 AM through 6:00 PM, for Lincoln and many of our neighboring counties. Winds out of the southwest, steady at 15 - 25 miles per hour and gusting as high as 45 miles per hour, can be expected.

Your Hawk Point firefighters are continuing to monitor this virus that is affecting us all. When we respond to a medical call reflecting this virus, we may appear to be standing back. The policy that is in place (for your safety, the next patient's safety, and our safety), is 1 firefighter will do or assist in taking the patients vital signs.
