Boone Electric’s headquarters building stood in as a training center for the Columbia, MO Fire Department, the @columbiapdsc and the Boone County Sheriff’s Departments this week. Expect to see fire crews through Sunday. It has been an honor to let you destroy our building before we demolish it.

More training today at Boone Electric Cooperative with Coil Construction. Some of the drills involved advancing charged, large diameter hose. This is heavy hose and hard work but necessary to get a lot of water on larger fires. #ALWAYSReady

Update: we are changing out the pole. This will likely take an hour(ish). When the crews move the lines to the new pole, they may have to shut off power. This will be a short outage. We have an outage in South Columbia near Rt. K and High Point Ln. A vehicle possibly hit a utility pole. We need to get the pole freed before we can restore power. It shouldn’t be too long. Sit tight.

Six lineworkers from Boone Electric are heading to Clarke-Washington Electric Membership Corporation in Jackson, Alabama. Hurricane Zeta knocked out power to all of its 20,000 meters when it rolled in Thursday afternoon. Our crews will provide mutual aid for the next 7-10 days. We thank our BEC families for being so understanding. This will be BEC's fifth trip in eight weeks to the Gulf Coast to help repair the damage left behind by hurricanes.

Energy Tip! Close off your masonry fireplace and resolve not to use it anymore. Every time you use it, it sends your home’s heated air up the chimney.

Be prepared for storms and know how to stay safe. If the power goes out, switch off lights, large electronics, and appliances to prevent overloading circuits and damaging appliances when power is restored. Leave one lamp or switch on as a signal for when your power returns. Read more safety tips at https://SafeElectricity.org//be-prepared-for-severe-storms/. via Safe Electricity
