Fancher-Rekus Funeral Homes 04.12.2020

Marie Alice (Groves) Shackleford, age 85, of Iberia, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, on March 21, 1935, daughter of the late Wayne Issac and Marie Alice (Murphy) Groves. After the death of her mother, Marie and her twin sister, Marcia, were raised by their aunt, Ruth Grady, who loved and cared for them as her own. On November 5, 1955, in Iberia, Marie was united in marriage ...to Fremont Glen Shackleford, who preceded her in death on June 8, 1998. Marie worked alongside her husband, Fremont, at the Iberia Drug Store and MFA Insurance Agency. They later purchased the Independent Insurance Agency and renamed it Shackleford Insurance Agency. She was a member in various organizations including, Iberia Garden Club, Holly Guild, and the Eastern Star obtaining the title of Worthy Matron and District Deputy Grand Matron. Marie was a woman of faith and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Iberia. She was an active member in the church working on the hospitality committee, serving as secretary, and volunteering in the preschool for many years. She is survived by one son, Robert Shackleford of Kansas City; two daughters, Teresa Tabor (Tim) of Lake Ozark and Susan Zink (Jeff) of Iberia; six grandchildren, Audrey Wilson (Tyler), Jessika Cook (Rhett), Nick Zink, Bennett Zink, Greg Tabor, and Matt Tabor (Heather); two great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Natyli Wilson; three sisters, Mary Lou O’Haver, Jean Kolz, and Nora Bond; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fremont, parents, Wayne Groves (Lois) and Marie Groves; twin sister, Marcia Shackleford; and two brothers, Ted and Jed Groves. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with funeral services immediately following at 11:30 a.m., on Thursday, December 3, at First Baptist Church in Iberia with Bro. Roy Bryant officiating. Interment will be held in Iberia Cemetery. Facial masks and social distancing are mandatory for those attending the funeral services. Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church or The Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland.

Harold Alvin Pendleton, age 96, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia. He was born in Tuscumbia on March 22, 1924, son of the late Osby and Susan (McKee) Pendleton. On February 18, 1948, Harold was united in marriage to Lillie Dorane Ahart, who preceded him in death on October 31, 2018. Harold served in the United States Navy during WWII until his honorable discharge on March 4, 1946. Harold and his brother, John..., went on the Honor Flight in 2009. Harold had a strong work ethic and was employed with various companies including, Hudson Oil as a dozer operator, lineman with LE Meyer out of St. Louis, and supervisor at AO Smith in Granite City, Illinois, where they made auto frames. In 1966 Harold started farming poultry and cattle until his retirement. He was a faithful member of Tuscumbia Christian Church, where he served as deacon. He is survived by one son, Mike Pendleton and wife Lynn of Tuscumbia; two grandsons, Brett Pendleton and wife Chelsea of St. Elizabeth and Bart Pendleton and wife Chelsea of Ulman; 3 great-grandchildren Bennett, Brooklyn and Olivia; brother, Denny Pendleton; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Lillie, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Pendleton; brother, John Pendleton; and two sisters, Nadine Moore and Ila Shepard. A private graveside service with military honors will be held in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Tuscumbia, with a celebration of life at a later date. Larry Bud Abbott, age 79, of Ulman, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at his home. He was born in Peoria, Oklahoma, on September 16, 1941, son of the late Dorlas and Bertie (Plemmons) Abbott. On January 14, 1960, at the Iberia Christian Church, Bud was united in marriage to Sharon Helton and they were blessed with 60 years of wedded bliss. Bud had many endearing qualities and will be remembered for his gentle soul, kind heart, humble manner, and his loving devotion... to his wife and family. He had a strong work ethic and spent many years in the construction business. Bud was a man of faith and served as an Elder at Tuscumbia Christian Church where he was a member. In addition to his loving wife, Sharon, he is also survived by his son, Rick Abbott of Ulman; daughter, Kelly Newcomb (Hank) of Crocker; six grandchildren, Lacie Christensen (Travis), Cody Abbott (Merridy), Joshua Newcomb, Caleb Newcomb, Eligh Newcomb, and Alex Abbott; two great-granddaughters, Marley Grace and Ollee; brother, Jack Abbott of Kansas City; sister, Helen Clark of Richland; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Kraig Abbott. Ronald M. Schubert, age 71, of Meta, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2020, at his home. He was born in Jefferson City on August 25, 1949, son of Almon and Loretta Mae (Rockelman) Schubert. On December 8, 1973, in Jefferson City, Ronald was united in marriage to Dianna C. Scheulen, who survives at their home. Before retiring, Ronald was employed at Allied Van Lines and DeLongs. He enjoyed attending garage sales and spending time outdoors taking his mule (ATV) for a drive an...d taking road trips. He cherished the time he spent with his family and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. Ronald was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Babbtown. In addition to his loving wife, Dianna, he is also survived by three sons, Gabriel Schubert (April), Jeremiah Schubert (Nicole), and Joshua Schubert; six grandchildren, Ashlee Steffensen (Rob), Kaytlin Schubert, Jeremiah Schubert II, Kayla Schubert, Skye Schubert, and Kaleb Schubert; two great-granddaughters, Catalina and Lia; mother, Loretta Mae Schubert; brother, Neal Schubert; five in-laws, Geraldine Berry (Gerald), Raymond Scheulen (Sherrie), Linda Pace (David), Richard Scheulen, and Melvin Scheulen (Bev); and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Ruth Frances Ash, age 91, of Brumley, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Eldorado, Kansas, on June 26, 1929, daughter of the late Thurman and Mary Ellen (Moss) Beal. On April 22, 1946, Ruth was united in marriage to Samuel Shorty Ash, who preceded her in death on February 22, 2012. Ruth enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family. She was left-handed, so when she was butchering a chi...cken it was quite the show for the family. Ruth was a faithful member of Rodden Church of Christ near Brumley. She is survived by two sons, Charles Ash, of Tuscumbia and Frank Ash of Hillsboro, TX; two daughters, Katherine Wilkin of Brumley and Ellen Novicky of Lebanon; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Steven Ash; two grandchildren, Christopher Novicky and Jason Ash, and three brothers, Billy Beal, Vernon Beal, and James Ray Cary. A private family graveside service will be held in Robinett Cemetery on Saturday, October 24, with her son, Charles Ash, officiating. Claire Lynn Kimker, age 86, of Iberia, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on December 26, 1933, daughter of the late Lewis and Lela (Crosby) French. On January 2, 1981, in Crestwood, Claire was united in marriage to Walter Kimker, who survives. Claire was employed as an industrial engineer with Firestone. Her favorite pastimes included playing poker, pool, bowling and motorcycle rides.... She loved spending time with her grandchildren and being outdoors hiking and exploring. In addition to her loving husband, Walter Kimker, she is also survived by one son, Matt French and wife Tammie of Rhodes, Iowa; one grandson, Corey French (Angela) of Marshalltown, Iowa; two granddaughters, Amber French and fiancé Trevor and Chasity Vallejo both of Marshalltown, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Kelly French of Laurel, Iowa; 11 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Lewis and Janet both of Ohio; two stepdaughters, Barbara Golden and daughter Heather Golden of Ballwin, Missouri; Brenda Mullen and husband Paul of Manchester, Missouri, their children Cory Mullen (Sarah) of St Charles, Missouri, Laura Mullen of Manchester, Missouri, along with numerous family and friends. Helen Louise Edwards, age 91, of Ulman, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020, after her battle with cancer, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Miller County on December 16, 1928, daughter of the late Claude and Grace (Wyrick) Martin. On May 20, 1946, in Camdenton, Helen married Otis Gene Edwards, who preceded her in death on July 26, 2015. Helen was a woman of faith and was a devoted wife to her husband Gene, who served as a minis...ter in various churches in the area for over 45 years with the loving support of Helen. She is survived by two sons, Sam Edwards (Wilma) and Fred Edwards both of Ulman; six grandchildren, Jeff Barnhart, Tammy Wyrick, Crystal Edwards Lewis, Jill Bomar, Simon Edwards, and Cody Edwards; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Wilma Lee (Shelton) Gardner, age 87, of Iberia, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Iberia on January 10, 1933, daughter of the late Herman and Genia (Denton) Shelton. On September 20, 1949, in Jefferson City, at the age of 16, Wilma was united in marriage to the love of her life, Harold Herbert Gardner, and they were blessed with 50 years of love together. Wilma was a life-long resident of Miller Coun...ty. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working alongside her husband raising turkey, chicken, and cattle on their family farm. Wilma enjoyed gardening, cooking for large crowds, and taking care of her family members. Wilma had a huge heart and was always willing to help others in need. She had a sweet disposition never saying an unkind word about others and would always give the best advice. She was a selfless woman who endured a lot in her life and always persevered despite the many obstacles that she overcame. Her fortune was never measured in the physical possessions, but in the amount of love and kindness that she was able to extend to others. The life advice that she leaves behind for her family is face each day with a warm heart and a generous hand to remember the love that God shows us each and every day and to always extend that love to others. Wilma accepted the Lord at a young age and was a faithful member of Hickory Point Baptist Church near Iberia. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend that will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to know her. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Patricia Hill (Bobby) and Kimberly Duncan (Jeffery) both of Iberia. He was born in Iberia on July 8, 1962, son of Basil Luttrell and Patsy (Alexander) Sien. Nicky was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his dogs, fishing, and riding horses. He also loved playing cards and dancing in his black cowboy boots and attending rodeos. Nicky’s favorite pastime was traveling around sightseeing with his daughter. He ...was a member of Mt. Steven Avery Blankenship, age 62, of Iberia, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at his home. He was born in Miller County on November 15, 1957, son of Frank and Regina Blankenship. On September 17, 1993, in Jefferson City, Steven was united in marriage to Tammy Null, who survives at their home. Steven enjoyed gardening and had a talent for refurbishing and repurposing antiques. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for several years. Steven had a giving heart, espe...cially for children in need. The greatest joy in Steven’s life was his family, especially his grandchildren. He was always willing to do anything he could for the betterment of his family. Steven was baptized in 1999 at Madden Ford and continued his Christian life helping others in need. In addition to his loving wife, Tammy Blankenship, he is also survived by two daughters, Madison Bell (Cody) of Eldon and Amy Bridgeton of Lake Ozark; son, Christopher Blankenship of Arkansas; mother, Regina Blankenship; three grandchildren, Annie Bridgeton, Austyn Bell and Augustus Bell; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Nina Rose Wilson, age 84, of Iberia, passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, September 29, 2020. She was born in Brumley on May 13, 1936, daughter of the late Earn and Ollie (Jeffries) Brown. On January 1, 1956, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Eldon Nina was united in marriage to Bobby Wilson, and they were blessed with 64 years and two sons. During her husband’s military career spanning 20 years, she and the family moved all over the cou...ntry to wherever he was stationed. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she volunteered for many years. Nina loved her country and honored those who served in the U.S. military by devoting much of her time volunteering at the VA Hospital in Columbia. Nina’s favorite pastimes included painting, gardening, quilting, and traveling. She was an avid reader and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. She loved life and spending time with her family. Nina was a faithful member of the Brumley Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, Bobby D. Wilson, she is also survived by two sons, Ricky Wilson and William Wilson (Bonnie); five grandchildren, Raechel Pritchett (Joshua), Joshua Wilson (Natashia), Lisa Wilson, William Billy Wilson (Jessie), and Ricky Wilson; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Alta Johnson and Shirley Brown; two brothers, Earn and Emmitt Brown; and one granddaughter, Stephanie Wilson. Linda F. (Deppe) Renneke, age 62, of Meta, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at her home. She was born in Vienna on March 10, 1958, daughter of the late Robert and Angie (Hoffman) Deppe. On June 16, 1976, in Jefferson City, Linda was united in marriage to James Renneke, who survives. Linda worked for ABB for ten years. She was a talented singer/songwriter, played the guitar and sang in a country band. In her spare time, she loved taking road trips west to Colorado ...and was a devoted mother to her son, Justin. Linda attended St. Peters Catholic Church in Jefferson City. She is survived by her husband, James Renneke; son, Justin Renneke (Jossie); two sisters, Marie Lucas (Joe) and Wanda Hendricks (Bill); brother, Jim Deppe (Brenda); and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Shirley Deeken, Robert Deppe Jr., and Larry Carver. Lonnie Rex Ahart, age 95, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mt. Vernon. He was born in Miller County on August 30, 1925, son of the late James Earl and Chlora (Crane) Ahart. On September 11, 1949, in Eldon, Lonnie was united in marriage to Norma Graham, who survives. Lonnie worked at Osage Products and ran his own sawmill for many years. He took pride and enjoyment in working on tractors, especially his Allis Chalmers. Marilyn Marie Herigon, age 79, of Meta, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020, at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Cole County on April 15, 1941, daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Weber) Strope. On July 30, 1977, in St. Thomas, Marilyn was united in marriage to Dale Herigon, who survives at their home. Marilyn had a passion for quilting and embroidering and contributed on many quilts for the parish picnics. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with h...er dogs, especially Sam and Casey. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished the time she had with her family, especially her grandchildren. Marilyn volunteered at St. Thomas the Apostle School and Helias School and was a faithful member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. In addition to her husband, Dale Herigon, she is survived by one daughter, Corinn Hake and husband Patrick of Taos; four grandchildren, Bruno, Sophie, Henry, and Adelia; sister, Marjorie Goeller of Russellville; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Larry George Farnham, age 78, of Iberia, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020, at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Iberia on February 10, 1942, son of the late Samuel and Erma (Humphrey) Farnham. On November 30, 1963, in Iberia, Larry was united in marriage to Judy Earp, who survives at their home. They shared almost 57 years together at the time of his passing. Upon graduating high school from Iberia in 1960 he attended and graduated from the police academy... in St. Louis. He served as a police officer in St. Louis until his entry into the United States Navy in September 1963. After completion of his training he was attached to VPI squadron that flew supply missions from Iwakuni, Japan to DaNang, Vietnam. His was the first squadron to receive live fire from the enemy at which time they lost one of their crewmen. At that time, the 6th Division Marines needed four field soldiers, Larry was chosen to fill one of the positions. He spent the rest of his deployment with the Marines in Vietnam until his separation in September of 1966. Larry was employed at Fort Leonard Wood for over thirty years in the capacity of ID Center Supervisor, truck driver, and journeyman pipe fitter. Until his retirement in 1997 he worked as a mechanical engineer design technician. Larry enjoyed many outdoor activities with his children and grandchildren. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. Larry was a member of the Iberia First Christian Church. In addition to his loving wife, Judy Farnham of the home, he is also survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Farnham) Williams and husband Anthony of Crocker; son, Scott Farnham and wife Mandy of Iberia; eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Alexis Olson (Silas) of Eldon, Ciara Deardeuff (Dalton) of Iberia, Taner Cline, Harmony Cline, and Zachary Cline of Iberia, Liam Williams and Channing Williams of Crocker, Coyer Farnham, Allison (Wade) Farnham, and Addison (Wade) Farnham all of Iberia; four great-grandchildren, Waylon Deardeuff, Walt Deardeuff, Haizlee Jarvis and Lux Olson; brother, Michael Farnham (Sheila) of Iberia; sister-in-law, Karen (Swaggerty) Earp of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Erma Farnham and sister, Wanda Randall; in-laws, George and Jean Earp; and brother-in-law, Steve Earp. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Stan Way officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at Iberia Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Iberia First Christian Church or the Iberia Cemetery.

Glenda Sue Hatfield, age 69, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born on December 26, 1950, along with her fraternal twin sister, Linda Lou, in Crocker, to the late Vincent and Phyllis (Woolery) Hatfield of Iberia, who were completely surprised when they had two babies born just shortly after Christmas Day. Survivors include twin sister, Linda Sauter of Eldon; sister-in-law, Jeanie Hatfield of Versai...lles; aunt, Barbara (Woolery) Cummins of Holts Summit; guardian/niece, Susan (Sauter) Pinkston of Eldon; many nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Phyllis Hatfield; grandparents, Benjamin Elda and Susie (Thoss) Woolery and Aubrey Delmar and Cora (Bowles) Hatfield; brother, Ernie Vincent Hatfield; sister, Phyllis Dean Aldridge; and brothers-in-law, Victor K. Sauter and Richard Aldridge. Glenda enjoyed being outside and loved seeing animals, especially puppy dogs and cats. She collected a lot of stuffed animals and knew them all by name. She liked to listen to her music, especially country songs, color in her coloring books and looking at family pictures. Glenda had worked at the Sheltered Workshop (Capital Projects) in Jefferson City from November 1973 until January 2015 due to several knee surgeries. She missed going back to work and seeing her friends. She lived in a few group homes, but spent most of her time at Clearview Group Home in Jefferson City. She had a lot of special friends there. She enjoyed going to work and receiving a paycheck. She participated in going to Special Olympics, Camp Wonderland, going to movies, out to eat, and bowling. She had a great case worker, Stacey, that always did that extra to help Glenda through her life. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Church in Iberia, near her parents’ home. Glenda enjoyed going to church from the group homes and many people knew her from the Jefferson City area. She liked to give people hugs as well as receive them. Glenda spent the last two years at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center. She enjoyed seeing the birds there and the puppy dogs that came to visit each day. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., with services immediately following at 2 p.m., on Friday, September 18, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Stan Way officiating. A private interment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Iberia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Sheltered Workshop, Capital Projects Inc., 2001 E.
