Today marked a major milestone in the career of Probationary Firefighter Frank Mesh. Frank successfully completed his probationary task book, a 6-month process designed to train new firefighters in the basics of firefighting. Frank also passed his probationary firefighter written examination. Having successfully completed his probationary period, Frank was promoted to the rank of Firefighter effective immediately. Clinton Fire Chief, Mark Manuel, presented Frank with the... helmet shield of a Firefighter. Firefighter Mesh was very happy to replace the Probationary Firefighter shield he has worn for the last 6 months! Firefighter Mesh will now spend the next 6 months progressing through the departments Fill-In Operator training program. After completing this program, Mesh will successfully complete the departments entry level training program. Join us in congratulating Firefighter Frank Mesh on this milestone achievement in his career!

We would like to extend our gratitude to the Michael Sites family for their recent generous and thoughtful donation. Pictured with CFD firemen are (left to right) Bobby Williams, Angie Williams and Annette Hendrickson. Their father/grandfather, Micheal Sites, tragically passed away as a result of a recent house fire in Clinton. Fire crews arrived on scene and immediately made entry into the home, locating Mr. Sites in the kitchen of the home unresponsive. Firemen removed... Mr. Sites from the home into EMS care where he was transported to a Kansas City hospital in critical condition. Sadly, Mr. Sites passed away a few days later, as a result of injuries and burns sustained during the fire. In memory of their father/grandfather, a donation was made to the firefighters, part of which was 10 smoke alarms. These smoke alarms will be distributed to those who need a smoke alarm in memory of Mr. Sites. Thank you Angie, Bobby and Annette. You and your family will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT CONCERNING OUTDOOR STORM SIREN AT EAST FRANKLIN AND 7/13 BYPASS As has been announced in the past, the outdoor storm siren located at the intersection of East Franklin Street and the 7/13 highway bypass has been decommissioned. Q: WHAT DOES THIS STATEMENT MEAN?... A: The outdoor storm siren is not operational and WILL NOT sound when the other sirens are activated. In fact, there is no longer power or communication to the siren. Q: WILL THIS OUTDOOR SIREN BE REPAIRED AND BECOME FUNCTIONAL AGAIN? A: No. When the new storm sirens were installed several years ago, a new siren was installed to replace this old, outdated siren. That new siren is located at the intersection of North Vansant Road and Harrison Road. Q: VANSANT & HARRISON?...THAT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THIS OUTDOOR STORM SIREN. HOW CAN IT COVER THIS PARTICULAR AREA (FRANKLIN & BYPASS)? A: The new sirens operate at a different sound decibel than the older outdoor storm sirens that use to be in Clinton. The new sirens, when originally installed, were strategically placed to cover ALL of Clinton. Q: WHY HAS THIS SIREN NOT BEEN TAKEN D0WN? A: Funding. The siren will eventually be taken down when funds are available to have the siren removed. One final reminder, outdoor storm sirens are meant to be heard outdoors only. They are not intended to be heard indoors. For storm notifications indoors, please purchase a NOAA weather radio or use local resources such as television and FM radio. Please help us in spreading this post and share it to your page. We receive numerous phone calls each month from citizens complaining that this particular outdoor storm siren is not working. We want to ensure that everyone understands that is not suppose to work. Have a great Wednesday!
