Just 13 more days until our Oasis workshop, when we hear from speaker and author Les Lynam, about book design. Les was born in Creston, Iowa, into a farming family. After graduating from high school, he attended Central Missouri State University (renamed University of Central Missouri in 2006), graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications. He refocused and returned to a life of studies at the University of Missouri, where he received an M.A./M.L.S in 198...6 and began a new career as a librarian at Ward Edwards/James C. Kirkpatrick libraries at UCM. Lynam took an early retirement on December 31, 2012, to pursue his lifelong dream of writing Science Fiction. His premier novels, Before You Leap and Saves Nine, were first published in 2014; these works were the first in the Time Will Tell series. A third book in the series (In One Basket) was published in 2015, and Just Before Dawn came out in 2019. He is currently writing the fifth and final book of the series. His favorite sub-genre of Science Fiction is Time-Travel, with Martian Colonies a close second. See more

If you are interested in learning how to edit your own writing, please plan to attend our Oasis workshop on May 1st to hear from editor Tiffany White. Tiffany is the editor behind Writers Untapped. She works on many genres under the umbrellas of fiction and nonfiction, including fantasy, sci-fi, and romance in both adult and young adult age groups. As a former teacher, Tiffany approaches each edit with the mindset of an instructor, guiding clients so they learn from their mis...takes and grow as writers. She has given numerous workshops, both online and in-person, teaches a master-editing class geared toward writers at all stages, and edits for a Kansas City publisher. Tiffany graduated with a B.A. in Screenwriting from Loyola Marymount University and completed a certification in Copyediting through UCSD. She is a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and ACES: The Society for Editing. See more
