Multiple coyotes wanted to play today. Proud of Caitlin & English for sorting the hounds in the woods while Dutch took the road
This Spotlight Saturday, we introduce Lexi Hunter! Lexi has been riding since August 2018. She started lessons on a sweet pony named Alfalfa and quickly fell in love with horses and the barn. Less than a year later, she moved up to a thoroughbred gelding, English, who she has been consistently riding since. Her absolute favorite horses at Wright Equestrian are English and Bambi. Lexi’s ultimate goal is to continue advancing in her show career and to follow in her id...ol’s (Caitlin’s) footsteps. She can’t wait to show in more difficult classes and eventually work her way up to more competitive shows. In addition to show prep, Lexi is also practicing to eventually start foxhunting and jumping. When she grows up, Lexi wants to be a vet, and also possibly a horse trainer like Mrs. Christine and Miss. Caitlin. She loves the barn with all her heart and loves seeing her favorite boys!
Happy New Year of happiness & good health
Boxing Day Hunt Thank you Leslie for coaching Caitlin whipping today. Frozen creeks were a bit daunting, but everyone managed okay. Matt turned B Field over to Christine to whip with Mary. Thank you to our youth for getting gates. ... It’s all about problem solving! See more
This Spotlight Saturday, we present Debbie Harrell! I discovered horse riding at the young age of 49. Prior to this time, my only experience with horses was the occasional guided trail rides on a vacation. When I first began lessons at WE, Christine asked me What is your goal? and I naively answered: To trot the arena a couple times with confidence. Fast forward five years and I am now riding english and galloping across fields on fox hunts! I first began riding on a...n untrained farm horse named Red. Both of us began our training at WE and it was life changing for both myself and Red. I had to learn how to ride and Red had to learn how to be a fox hunting horse and simultaneously take care of an inexperienced rider. Through many hours of laughter, frustration, and at times even tears, we managed to click and made a great team. We had three exhilarating years hunting together and it was with a heavy heart that I made the decision to retire him from hunting due to his age. I am happy to say Christine found me a new partner, an Appaloosa gelding affectionately known as MOOSE, who is loving the excitement of being a fox hunting horse. He is gentle and kind- yet bold on the field. I anticipate many exciting adventures in our future together. When I began riding five years ago, I thought it was only a temporary diversion to pass the time while my husband was working in Afghanistan. Little did I realize, riding would become more then a past time in my life. I work as a Family Nurse Practitioner, have adult children in their final years of college, and my husband Rick has since returned home and will soon begin his position as the newly elected Sheriff of Lincoln County. I am surrounded by changes, stress, and chaos in my life and, although I might not be the most graceful or bravest rider, I am definitely the one with a smile feeling sheer joy when sitting atop a horse. Debbie is one of the most positive, determined, and kindhearted people we know. She is a joy to have as a part of our barn family
