Sildenafil Shows Promise in Treating Patients With Aortic Stenosis In a very preliminary and small study at Washington University School of Medicine, early findings show that a single dose of sildenafil improves the pulmonary and systemic hemodynamics in very ill patients with aortic stenosis. New Device for Treating Resistant Hypertension Doctors at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis are testing an investigational device n patients with resistant hypertension. Led by interventional cardiologist Jasvindar Singh, MD, associate professor of medicine, and hypertension specialist Angela L. Brown, MD, assistant professor of medicine, the study is intended for patients who are taking at least three different types of blood pressure medications at the highest tolerated doses, but continue to have trouble controlling their blood pressure. The novel investigational device targets nerves in the arteries that deliver blood to the kidneys.
