He was born November 17, 1958 in Independence, Missouri a son Betty Jean (Stuart) Woodson. He was united in marriage to Melissa Leverett who survives at the home. Michael Ervin Scaife, 63, of Jefferson City passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehab. He was born April 11, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri a son of the late James and Dorothy (Cole) Scaife. He is survived by one son: Michael Scaife Jr. (Mary) of IL.; one granddaughter; two sisters: Phyllis Adisa of Jefferson City., Earlene Scaife of St. Louis; two god-sons: Russell Lemons and Cameron Adisa; one aunt: Shirley Weathersby; one uncle: Fred Cole.... Mr. Kenneth James Baker, 87, of Jefferson City passed away Sunday November 15, 2020 at his home with his wife and son; Randy by his side. He was born March 4, 1933 in Russell, Iowa a son of the late James and Thelma (Denny) Baker. Mr. Baker served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950 - 1953. He was awarded many medals, one of which being the Congressional Medal of Honor for services rendered. He continued to serve in the National G...uard for over 25 years following. On August 29, 1998 he was united in marriage to Shirley Martina Nalley, who survives at their home. Ken loved to fish, and cherished his fishing trips to Canada with family and friends. In his earlier times he was a talented guitar player in a western country band for many years. Mr. Baker is survived by his wife: Martina; four sons: Eddie Baker, Randy Hunt of Jefferson City, David Hunt (Christina) of Guthrie Center IA, Ty Hunt (Debrah) of Wilsons, VA; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren. The family of Mr. Baker wishes to extend a sincere thanks to Hospice Compassus of Jefferson City, and encourages any expressions of sympathy to be made to Compassus. He was united in marriage on May 14, 1955 to Elsie Mae Sanders who survives at their home. Bobby enjoyed fishing, old cars and attending as many car shows as he could. Mrs. Karen Marie Winemiller, 68 of Russellville, passed away Sunday September 13, 2020 at SSM St. Mary’s Health Center in Jefferson City. She was born April 9, 1952 in Jefferson City a daughter of the late Henry and Eleanor (Hicks) Helmig. She was united in marriage on August 19, 1972 at Concord Baptist Church to Joseph Winemiller who survives at their home. Karen retired after a career with Missouri Dept. of Health and Senior Services. She enjoyed bowling, bunco, and was a... member of the Missouri River Quilt Guild. Karen loved being around people, she was a wonderful neighbor, friend, wife, mother, grandmother; she especially adored her grandchildren and the time she spent with them. In addition to her husband: Joseph; she is survived by two sons: Michael (Lauren) Winemiller of Jefferson City and Joshua Winemiller of Jefferson City; six grandchildren: Lexi, Caidence, Jameson, Nora, Adlee, Lily. Thomas (Tom aka Papa Tommy) Leon Halfen Sr. Passed away quietly at his son’s home in the care of his family, early in the morning on September 5, 2020. He was 74 years old. He was born in Manhattan, NY where he was adopted by Fred and Mally Halfen . This family journey led them to Atlanta, Georgia. As an adult in Atlanta he was a successful salesman in pharmaceuticals and then in the real estate market where he was awarded more than once the Million dollar sales award. Once t...he real estate market plunged he was trained as a chef. This journey led him to opening his own restaurant in Prince Edward Island. This venture was short lived but caught the attention of the New York Times as an up and coming place to enjoy great food. After his son Thommy and family moved to Jefferson City he decided to follow and make Jefferson City his beloved home. Here he found a community of friends among the audubon society, animal shelter, Missouri River paddlers, Arris Pizza and Paddy Malone’s. He was an avid animal lover, chef by trade, bird watcher and a big supporter of the Missouri River Paddlers group. He looked forward to the Missouri River races each year and greeted many paddlers with coffee, blankets and a smile. He had a passion for finding homes for misplaced animals of the shelter and watching the migration of the sand hill cranes and eagles. His grandchildren fondly remember him emailing, calling or texting about the different changes in the moon and planets as well. Tom leaves behind to cherish these memories and more his daughter: Kimberly (Greg) Rowan; son: Thommy (Lori) Halfen; nine grandchildren: CariBeth, Amalie , Lauren, Morgan , Benjamin , Grace, Blake, Taylor and Bryce; four great grandchildren: Lyla, Peyton, Azalia, Taylor; two beloved friends: Jim Meidl and Jane Ready- Luckman; two cousins: Steve and Tom Safran. As his life was nearing the end, his search for his birth family began to produce results of family he never knew yet extended their friendship and prayers in his time of need . Two days prior to his death, his son and daughter had the privilege of leading him to Jesus Christ. A Celebration of Tom’s life will be 1 p.m. November 25, 2020 at the Noren River Access. Andrea Marie Yancy, 57, of Jefferson City passed away Monday July 27, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 20, 1962 in Troy, Missouri a daughter of Damon and Margaret (Doyle) Haley. She attended Aurora Highschool in Aurora, Colorado where she was on the swim team. Andrea was employed with the Missouri Dept. of Corrections Board of Probation and Parole until her retirement. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. ... Mr. Forrest Michael Edward Claypool IV, age 80, of Jefferson City, passed away on July 27, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family and his ever faithful dog Cissy. He was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on July 22, 1940, son of the late Forrest Claypool III and Ruth (Burns) Claypool. Forrest graduated from THE Ohio State University and honorably served in the United States Army. After his military service, he settled in sunny south Florida and on September 5, 1987 marri...ed Carmen Marie Nevers who survives him at their home. Forrest retired as Director from Faith Farm Ministries in 2004. He then relocated with his family to Albany, Georgia, before finally settling in Jefferson City, Missouri in 2007. Over the next 13 years he worked part time at Schulte’s Fresh Foods, a job that was personally fulfilling for him during his retirement. Never one to rest on his laurels Forrest spent his retirement working at Schulte’s, visiting the YMCA, and marshalling at the Oak Hills Golf Course. Forrest was an avid golfer, a fervent fan of his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. He was a member of Southridge Baptist Church in Jefferson City. In addition to his loving wife, Carmen Claypool, he is also survived by four daughters: Anna Joy Thomas, Sarah Horton, Elisabeth Robinson, Cindy Benson; one son: Michael Benson; four grandchildren: Siiri Parks, Regan Vickery, Paul Robinson Jr., and William Forrest Horton; one niece: Victoria Libertore. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin sister Marsha (Claypool) Libertore. The family is holding a private memorial service to celebrate his life. Tony Dwyane Davis, 30, of Chicago, IL, departed this world on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Tony was born November 9, 1989, to Andrea Davis and Tony Nalls. He moved to Jefferson City, MO, as young man, where he graduated from Jefferson City High School in 2007. Tony also attended Lincoln University in Missouri, before his passion for people lead him into retail sales. Tony accepted Christ early in life. His enthusiasm and zeal for life was infectious. His adventurous spirit had recently led him to Houston, TX, where he was endeavoring to advance his career in retail sales.
