This is from my pew for the drive-in Good Friday service this evening at Trinity Lutheran New Haven. You see the hymns, service folder, and if you look carefu...lly my hand sanitizer (out of view were my gloves and mask, if needed). Open sunroof, beautiful sky and wonderful service made for a great experience. If you want to get out for a drive and away from online streaming for a social-distancing drive-in Easter Service, keep this church on MO Hwy 100 in New Haven in mind, rear parking lot. See more

Dear Members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Given the recent news of the Coronavirus, we do not want to overreact as a church, but we also do not want to be unprepared and treat it flippantly. It is a serious issue that requires measures to be taken. 1. First and foremost, we are praying, not panicking.... We know that this is no surprise to God. We take comfort in the hope we have in God through Jesus. We are praying for the safety of our community, our country, and the world. We are praying for wisdom for everyone in our church to respond well to the challenges brought by the Coronavirus outbreak. We invite you to join us in these prayers. 2. Communication is key! We will communicate with you about any changes. Our Facebook page is a great way to get updates. 3. We believe that gathering together in person is incredibly valuable and should be a priority. Hebrews 10:25 says, Let us not stay away from our worship services, as some are regularly doing, but let us encourage one another, all the more because you see the day coming nearer. That being said, WE ENCOURAGE THOSE WHO ARE AT AN INCREASED RISK FOR INFECTION DUE TO COMPROMISED IMMUNE SYSTEMS TO STAY AT HOME. 4. WE ENCOURAGE ANYONE WHO IS SICK TO STAY HOME! We welcome sharing with almost everything, but sickness is not one of those things!! 5. We can be friendly without touching. Feel free to offer a holy elbow bump or an air high five instead of shaking hands or hugging. 6. We encourage good hygiene. Please wash your hands thoroughly and regularly. If you have to cough, please use the inside of your elbow and cover your mouth to keep any germs from escaping. Remember that the Coronavirus spreads before people become symptomatic. Good habits like these will keep you from passing on germs you may not know you have. 7. At this time, we have not canceled any ministry activities. Sunday and Midweek Lenten services, Bible study, Confirmation and Sunday school will continue. However, we will continue to evaluate these carefully and may need to cancel them pending the situation in our community over the next several weeks. 8. There is no need for us to change our communion practices. The communion helpers use hand sanitizer before they come up to help. The alcohol in the wine kills most germs. Actually, the common cup, because it is silver, is just as safe as the individual cups. Again, please join us in praying for our community and all those affected by this new virus. We understand that God is ultimately in control and will work all things out for good to those who love Him. We trust in His promises and rest in His peace. In Christ, Luke Otten President, Trinity Lutheran Church
