Are you happy? Like ACTUALLY happy. Like not just putting on a face and playing happy.... But actually happy. Are you doing what makes you happy? Are you surrounding yourself with people that bring you up and make you happy? Are you in a physical, mental, and emotional place where you are happy? Are you doing the work to get you to that "place" where you are happy and enjoying the time getting there? If you're not, what's holding you back? Why? This is what makes me happy! There may be really nasty days where I don't want to get out or things may have not gone my way, but as soon as I get out there with my girls (and boys), it doesn't matter. I'm in my happy place and that's where I plan to stay! And I'm putting in the work to make it happen, the work to be physically capable of doing what makes me happy, the work to detour from society's expectations and focus on what matters to me.

Give me 5 minutes and start today. Give me 5 minutes and continue tomorrow. Give me 5 minutes and keep going.... Why 5? Because 5 is enough to start. Because 5 breaks the barrier. Because once you start with 5, you can keep going. But what can you do in 5 minutes that accomplishes anything? You can stop and breathe. You can stretch. You can put together a meal or write down a grocery list. You can sit down and eat. You can do a couple quality exercises to strengthen your back or glutes or whatever area you may need to work on. You get the idea? There's a lot you can do in 5 minutes to benefit you and help you become better at what you do. I don't ask clients for hours to workout. I ask for 5 minutes to start. Why? Because it's doable. Because if 5 minutes is all you have, we're going to make the most of it! Will it actually make a difference? Yes! Focusing on correct form, breathing, flexibility for even 5 minutes daily will make so much difference in all your daily agricultural tasks, from walking fields to hauling hay to working calves to splitting wood to gardening! What is something you want to improve on? Whether it be stronger at, more efficient at, more educated on, etc. Share below!

Just a little bit better. Today I'm piggybacking off my post from earlier this week. So if you haven't read it, head to my bio and read it too. In that post, I talk about how sometimes being good enough is good enough and how perfection isn't all it's hyped up to be.... But we still want to improve ourselves. Whether it's being a better person, a better athlete, better caretaker of animals and kids, a better operator of equipment, a better friend, we want to be better than we were. Right? Don't worry! You can stick with the mindset that sometimes good enough is good enough and still push yourself to improve! How? By being just a little bit better. A little better today, a little better tomorrow, for the next week, month, year, it adds up to a whole lot better. Maybe this means getting to bed a smidge earlier than normal. Maybe that means adding a serving of veggies to one meal. Maybe that means including one single strength or flexibility exercise into your day. Maybe it means hitting the call button instead of sending a short text or going to supper with a friend. Maybe it means spending 15 extra minutes checking over the herd, because a storm is moving in and it might delay things in the morning. Maybe it's stopping to say a little extra prayer of thanksgiving. Just a little bit better every day can really make a difference. Stop and make a mental (or physical) list of some things you can do tonight or tomorrow that can make you, who you are, and what you do a little bit better. Now, can you imagine once you do all those things?! What about once they become habit?! Can you imagine how different, how much better things can be!? I get to challenge my clients to do this daily. Pick one thing we can do just a little bit better than yesterday. Challenge 1: I want to know in the comments ONE thing you are going to do a little bit better in the next 24hrs. Challenge 2: Tag someone you want to challenge to do the same!

Few things can help an individual more than to place responsibility on him, and to let him know that you trust him. -Booker T. Washington

Perfection vs Good Enough I'm going to keep this short. Why? Because the perfectionist in me thinks all topics should be discussed to complete length. And today, I'm focused on the idea that sometimes good enough is good enough. I'm a recovering perfectionist. I have had a huge push and a lot of eye opening moments in the last few years.... Why does being a perfectionist hurt us? It holds us back from things that MAY not go perfectly. It holds us back from starting conversations that we aren't completely in control of (aka keeping perfect). It causes procrastination, because of a fear of imperfection. It causes us to replay words and actions again and again and again. It creates scenarios that ARE NOT REAL. What does mean "sometimes good enough is good enough" mean? Simply put...just do the damn thing. Move. Act. Speak. Don't live in fear that it won't be perfect. By simply doing the damn thing, you're acting towards the things you want, believe in, care about, and practice makes "perfect". Actually by practicing, you just get better! Your good enough can improve daily. Perfectionist in me says keep talking. The good enough in me says "what thing are you going to do well and allow it to be good enough today?"
