It is still hard to think today is the last issue of our weekly community newspaper. However, our staff is so appreciative of the wonderful backing, rallying, and so much more from our loyal readers, community leaders and all those we were able to meet. As COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to surge, a small hospital in central Missouri is asking residents of the Lake of the Ozarks area to honor the work of health providers and take precautions during holiday events.

Over the past seven days, cases are up 7.7 percent, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

Missouri health officials reported 179 in new confirmed coronavirus cases Tuesday, as the state continues to see daily triple-digit increases.

Candles will be lit at a vigil for Michelle "Brittany" Fennell from 1-5 p.m. March 25 in Eldon, symbolizing how family members hope she will return to their loving warmth. Fennell, 46, of Rolla, was last seen Nov. 11 in Miller County and has been considered endangered since her disappearance.

"It feels good to be the first-ever state champion," Trenton Dillon said Saturday night at Mizzou Arena, after capturing the title at 160 pounds in the Class 2 state tournament with a 2-1 win against Bolivar's Hayden Burks.

Missouri Taxidermy Institute, located between Osage Beach and Camdenton, has graduated roughly 700 students since its 2002 inception. Chip Stamper is the school's owner and instructor. "As a kid, I was always interested in the outdoors, hunting and fishing. This is kind of an extension of that," he said.
