Community encompasses every aspect of our lives it’s where we live, work, learn, play and pray. These make up the social determinants of health, and too many people in the U.S. face community barriers to health and well-being. At least 4 million U.S. households are home to children exposed to high levels of lead, and around 6 million U.S. homes are considered substandard. Our social communities affect our health behaviors, too. Teens are more likely to engage in risky healt...h behaviors like smoking, texting while driving or not wearing a seatbelt if their friends do the same. Additionally, elderly individuals, who live alone and feel lonely, are at 26% higher risk for mortality. Even among the general population, loneliness has been found to be a greater health risk than obesity. Learn more here: http://www.nphw.org/NPHW-2021/Strengthening-Community See more
We understand that emergencies happen. If for some reason you have to cancel your vaccine appointment, please call us! This allows us to reassign the dose to someone else so that it does not go to waste. This is especially critical for 2nd dose appointments! (636) 528-6117

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted long-standing inequities in health care, income, housing, education and many other factors that influence health and well-being. These inequities are largely driven by racism and bias that are embedded in our systems, institutions, policies and practices. This structural racism results in a lack of access and opportunity, increased sickness and premature death among communities of color. Compared to white women, Black women (across socioe...conomic status) are three times more likely to die within one year of childbirth. American Indian/Alaska Native, Black and Latinx youth graduate high school at rates significantly lower than white youth. In addition, Black, American Indian and Latinx Americans all have a COVID-19 death rate that nearly triples that of White Americans. The public health community must address racism as the key driver of health disparities. Learn more: www.nphw.org/NPHW-2021/Racial-Equity See more

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: If you have received a positive test result but are still waiting to hear from us, you may be receiving a survey link texted to the phone number you provided to the lab or provider when you were tested. This allows us to gather important information without residents having to wait extended periods of time to speak with someone over the phone. LCHD hopes that this will also be much more convenient for residents. You may also receive a message if you are found to be a close contact. LCHD has been working hard on getting this new system up and running to streamline some of our processes for both positive cases and close contacts. Attached is an example of what you might see.
None of the COVID-19 vaccines currently in development in the United States uses the live virus that causes COVID-19. You may have symptoms like a fever after you get a vaccine. This is normal and a sign that your immune system is learning how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19. Our dashboard has been updated. We sadly announce that 2 additional deaths have been added. 33 Lincoln County residents have now died. Our prayers are with their families and friends. Total cases: 3,002 Active: 331... Pending: 1,032 Recovered: 2,637 Deaths: 33 Click here to view: https://experience.arcgis.com//61207258c1f243cabcec743c230 Numbers reflect the most updated case counts from the previous business day. Updates: Pending cases are positive cases that are awaiting contact and investigation by LCHD or cases that are unable to be reached. Due to the rapid increase of COVID-19 cases in our community, they are incoming faster than can be investigated by our staff. Pending cases are not included in our overall total or active cases. As pending cases are investigated, they will be added to the overall total number of cases. Until very recently, our staff had been able to process received cases within 48 hours with little to no backlog, including working late evenings, weekends, and holidays. By displaying these pending case numbers, we are ensuring that our community is fully informed about the COVID-19 situation in our county. Our backlog is actively being worked on by additional contractors that have been onboarded. We hope to have the issue resolved soon. In addition to adding a new category on our dashboard, we are also adding a new form on our website to request a letter for isolation and quarantine. We are not able to issue release letters unless we have worked/investigated your case. Due to the influx of cases, it may be several days before your request is processed. This form can be found at www.lchdmo.org/covid19letter

Our dashboard has been updated. Sadly, we have added another death, totaling 16. Our thoughts and prayers are with their friends and families. Total cases: 1,755 Active: 154 Pending: 332... Recovered:1,585 Deaths: 16 Click here to view: https://experience.arcgis.com//61207258c1f243cabcec743c230 Numbers reflect the most updated case counts from the previous business day. Today the Lincoln County Health Department is displaying a new category on our COVID-19 dashboard- pending cases Pending cases are cases that are awaiting contact and investigation by LCHD or cases that are unable to be reached. Due to the rapid increase of COVID-19 cases in our community, they are incoming faster than can be investigated by our staff. In order to assist with this problem, LCHD is in the process of hiring additional contact tracers through an outside contractor vetted by the state of Missouri. The local CARES committee, who is responsible for disseminating our county’s federal CARES Act funding, has been easy to work with and we appreciate how quickly they have kept the CARES money working for Lincoln Countians. We are hopeful that the committee will allow us to apply the CARES Act funding to this expense in order to shift the unavoidable cost burden away from taxpayers. Once hired, the new contact tracers will have a short period of onboarding and training.
