The Flora Lounge

Happy to add a vintage Otagiri Moai mug from the Aku Aku in Las Vegas to my collection.

An old steamer trunk makes for an interesting coffee table! Now to just find some vintage/replica luggage stickers from Polynesian locales to affix to it!

Picked up an old Magnavox Magnasonic console record player on the cheap from a Craigslister. It has a still working 4 speed micromatic turntable in it. There's some pretty bad static out of the left speakers that I'll have to address. But the turntable itself still works, including the auto play/shutoff feature. A small unit, only about 2 foot tall and 3 foot wide. But I'm in love with it!

A few recent exotica/Hawaiiana LP acquisitions. Even though Korla Pandit isn't necessarily tiki, it's exotica and seeing as how he's a Missouri native like myself, I never pass up an opportunity to purchase his work. The Kokee Band LP is a solid exotica record of standard fare (such as Baia, Moon of Manakoora and Tico-tico) that's not readily found in the wild. And I couldn't pass up the odd Leo Diamond LP... Hawaiiana done on harmonica with full orchestra.

Received the Rue Morgue Monkey mug from Horror In Clay/Johnathon Chaffin today. Fantastic looking, not very tall, but full of detail and references from the story. Wonderful addition to any mug collection!

A dear tiki friend gifted me this Sven Kirsten "Koruru" mug this weekend. Karen, you are the absolute sweetest and I'll treasure this piece!

Held a party for fellow KC area tikiphiles in town to see Mr. Ho's Orchestroitica playing in Lawrence KS today. It was fun to fire up the Lounge and host for friends old and new!

Awhile back I picked this bamboo aquarium up for $75. It's become a wonderful display case for overflow mugs!!
