Pruning and thinning your plant properly and at the right time is key to maximize plant production. It also depends on the strain, some respond well to defolia...tion and some it can cause to Hermie. I use the tuck method as much as possible. I do remove large fan leaves that I cannot tuck under and are covering node sites. Lolly popping your plant in the vegetative stage is a must. Everything below the supercrop will be removed. I like to take my clones from the bottom branches I remove becouse most of the plants natural root hormones are stored in the lower branches, only helping to increase your success in cloning.
