From the owner of Etiquette Beauty... Hello to everyone from Amanda Rose! I’m the founder, formulator, and holistic esthetician behind Laid Bare. Laid Bare was created out of love and curiosity. After 12 years treating my client’s skin, I’ve come to realize most of what I was helping my clients with were concerns stemming from imbalance. Too much exfoliation, topical dehydration and oil deficiency were common issues. Initially, I started researching plant-based fatty acid...s, and then I started blending oil serums for clients on the side. Spotted in his natural habitat! @wesbenson is a Kansas-City-based oil painter and Illustrator. He has an MFA from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City and a bachelors degree in art history from KU, the University of Kansas. He works out of his studio in the Bauer building in the Crossroads district of Kansas City.... Wes has been featured in 435 magazine, The Hills magazine, Leawood magazine and has produced artwork for the Mensa Bulletin, ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition and Dirt Rag magazine. His oil paintings have been shown at Weinberger Fine Art, the Leedy-Voulkos, Art Center, and Flock Salon. His work hangs on walls and in private collections across the U.S. Wes stubbornly paints whatever he wants to paint. His artistic philosophy is guided exclusively by the daily visual input of his own life. We are heartbroken to have learned that Nick, the Chef/Owner of @observationpizza, has tragically and unexpectedly passed. It has been an honor to have been the most recent home of his magical and beloved pop-up culinary project agreed by many in Kansas City to have been one of the few pleasures born out of this challenging season. We are devastated by this loss, and our hearts go out to each and every one of those that will miss him most. Repost: Sadly, on Saturday... Out of the love, support, and help from everyone that was in Nick’s close circle we have been able to put together a memorial to celebrate his life. Sooooo excited for this year’s altered production of our block’s annual West 18th Street Fashion Show!... The @west18thstreetfashionshow is now partnered with @filmsocietykc in 2020 to produce "Summer in Hindsight," a feature-length film platforming selected fashion designers through a narrative that explores the creative process during a global pandemic and a cultural revolution. Directed by Peregrine Honig and starring Calvin Arsenia as the lead, the film's "Direc...tors Cut" will be aired at Boulevard Drive-In Theatre for a command performance on Friday, October 16, 2020. Previously the scheduled show was set to celebrate the twentieth production year via a 100-foot runway on Saturday, June 13. "Pivoting from a live event to producing a feature-length film demonstrates our strength, creativity, and flexibility. With iconic Kansas City locations as our sets, international musicians will be scoring the soundtrack. The garments have been further developed due to our designers being quarantined with their work." She added, "Our innovative use of the Boulevard Drive-In as a venue ensures #Covid19 protocols are followed, protecting our audience." No lease! Cheap rent!! We still have a spot in our beautiful studio space for one person who needs it on EVENINGS after 4pm and/or WEEKENDS. Perfect for someon...e who doesn’t want to take on a full studio lease commitment of their own. Need a space away from home distractions to sew, write, draw, shoot non-commercial photo work (portraits), design, hold wardrobe fittings, do your side hustle, etc? We do have some considerations: there’s not a ton of extra room to store things- so if you have tons of messy supplies we aren’t for you. We work / shoot in the space sometimes on weekdays so it has to be clean and back to normal each day. We don’t want another commercial photographer, probably. We don’t probably want to host frequent public events - we just have too much gear in there. And you can’t use it for parties, sleeping, weird stuff, messy stuff.
