The answer to Tuesday trivia is E, all of the above. There are times when even progesterone will not prevent a miscarriage, unfortunately. However, I do believe that many could be prevented with progesterone. I went on bedrest at 18 weeks with the boys. They were born at 29 weeks, 1 day. I wonder what would’ve happened if I knew about progesterone then. ... If you or anyone you know fit the criteria listed in the question, get on progesterone. ASAP. If you need help with that, let us know. Thanks for playing!!

I found this from October. I had saved it to share with you guys. Better late than never This is a fun case. These are fun to turn around. This is a 65 year old female with hypothyroidism. She stopped her synthroid because she didn’t really get good guidance from her provider and therefore she didn’t trust them. Her symptoms were all the usual: fatigue, hair falling out, hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog, weight gain, and zero libido. Check out her TSH (which is all wes...tern medicine checks) and REALLY CHECK OUT her free T3 and free T4. So very low and also causing symptoms. She also has thyroid antibodies that give her the diagnosis of hashimotos. The sad part is, in the mainstream universe, she would get put back on her synthroid (or Levothyroxine). These meds are a T4 medicine only. So it will increase the T4 but NEVER touch the T3. This means her TSH will be normal but her symptoms will remain. T4 is important, for sure, but it’s T3 that resolves many of the symptoms. She also has fatty liver, non alcoholic because she doesn’t drink. That is fatty liver from sugar. This is reversible. Her insulin is almost out of range, even for western medicine. I want a level of 5 and below. You can see her fasting glucose is 95. No provider would even blink with that result. You don’t get the full picture though unless you do fasting insulin. I didn’t check her A1C, I can’t remember why but she probably had that done at her regular doctor so I don’t repeat it. But I am pretty sure the A1C was normal for mainstream medicine. They’re very happy with and elevated A1C and many times don’t even comment on it to the patient. The patient continues to get very sick for years before something is finally flagged on labs. You can also see that her hormones, estradiol and progesterone are zero but nothing flags as abnormal. We don’t want to be normal we want to be optimal. So in my universe, this patient got compounded thyroid which includes T4 and T3. She also got bio identical hormones. We discussed diet at her first visit. By the time she came in to go over labs, 10 days later, she already implemented diet changes and was feeling better. I cannot wait to see this patient’s progress. Everyone is important and everyone has a reason for getting healthy. This 65 year old’s reason is she and her husband are the sole caregiver for their 2 year old great grandchild. Someone else, very little, is relying on her. Keep the faith and never give up!!

Does everyone understand this? If not listen up. Don’t force your kids to finish their juice for health. It’s wrecking their health and spiking their sugar. Don’t give them juice and send them to school to learn. Most of us parents would rarely give our kids dessert for breakfast, but know the breakfast foods you’re giving, including juice, is dessert. I would bet for some it’s a larger sugar spike than a straight candy bar or donut. And if you’re a diabetic you definitel...y CANNOT have this. This isn’t a good idea to use even with dropping blood sugars. There are much better and steady ways to combat low sugars. Know better, do better!!

I’m 49 years old so I’m old enough to remember this. It was rare to see anyone overweight. Also, back then not many people exercised like we do now. You cannot go a day without seeing someone walking or running down the street. People counting their steps. People moving more and eating less. People eating more fruits and veggies. People cutting out their red meat consumption. There is a doctor in west plains, Missouri that tells patients you need to put the fork down and p...ush your chair away from the table. Huh, That easy? It isn’t rocket science but we do need to relearn how to eat and also some basic biology. So what changed? How did we get here? I think the food is poison now. I think industrial seed oils is wreaking havoc. I think our stress is high and sleep is low. Make changes now to better your health. Don’t wait until you are in the middle of a crisis. Then you’ll be fighting your way out. Don’t give up.

Remember this fact over the weekend and coming weeks, including the holidays. Non diabetics, type 1 and type 2 diabetics need to hear this truth. If you’re a type 2, cutting out sugar has a high likelihood of most of you getting off your meds. Type 1 diabetics can DRASTICALLY cut down the amount of insulin they need per day. No one, NO ONE, needs the amount of sugar many people consume in one day. Some people hit their limit of sugar after getting their coffee and pasty/bagel from the local coffee shop. Think about that for a long minute. They met or exceeded their limit of sugar and still have given no nutrients to their body. Their body is still literally starving to death for nutrients. Know better, do better.

The answer to Tuesday trivia is G. All of these foods will have a bigger blood glucose and insulin spike than you’d think. If fact I’m pretty sure most of you would be shocked at your sugar highs and lows, on a daily basis wearing a CGM, continuous glucose monitor. Shocked. Be mindful of how you fuel your body. YOU be mindful because not many providers will or even know about the effect of food on your body. This is follow up tweet from Dr Tro about the endocrinologist. Ju...st a heads up......An endocrinologist is THE EXPERT IN BLOOD SUGAR AND DIABETES. I must be in some sort of alternate universe. Endos wholeheartedly believe this ONLY because they’re giving you HUGE DOSES OF INSULIN so you need sugar/carbs/starches to offset that dose. All they have to do is reduce sugar and carbs then you wouldn’t need that much insulin. Thanks for playing!! Go back and look at yesterday’s post to see the beginning of Dr Tro’s tweet.

Language warning at the end. This is what us providers, in this space, face on a daily basis. Daily. Dr Tro is an amazing human being who truly cares about his patients and their health. He overcame obesity himself, which gives him such insight. Why wouldn’t another doctor just be sooooooooooooo excited for this patient. Why wouldn’t another doctor think hmmmmmm how can I achieve these results. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED CASE. WE DO THIS EVERYDAY IF THE PATIENT IS WILLING TO ...ACT AND CHANGE FOR THEMSELVES!!!!! Ok enough with the caps. This gets me fired up every time!!! Love you guys but it’s clear you’re the one in charge of your health. You have to make the changes. Otherwise you’ll be stuck in the sickcare system where, LITERALLY, they don’t care. I’m blessed to call Tro, and so many others, friends and colleagues. Blessed.

My traditional Halloween post. This is how I’ve evolved. This may not be you yet and that is fine. We are all on a different part of our journey. This will be the third year that we pay the boys $50 to not go trick or treating. Money talks for everyone lol. I figure I spend way more than that on 2 costumes, candy for our house and candy for our church. Plus as an ex addict, I cannot have candy in my house. I cannot moderate. I must practice abstinence. I used to buy 2-3 lar...ge bags of candy and donate it to our church for the community programs they do. I would also buy a bag for our house. I can no longer do this because I view sugar and candy as poison. As much as I love Jesus and my church I can no longer participate in that part of it. I remember my MIL would give out raisins for Halloween thinking it was healthier. Now we all know it’s the same as candy. Now we go upstairs and watch a movie together with the lights out on Halloween. Are you all planning anything different, as you get further along in your journey? Lastly, don’t fall for these marketing ploys. These are very deceiving. Just eat real food.

Food pics for the past few weeks. All the same. I eat mostly carnivore. Mostly because once a week I’ll have some cauliflower mash and I frequently have onions and tomato and pickle with my burgers. You could also call this heavy meat keto. I am still eating mostly OMAD, one meal a day. On the weekends I will eat around 11:00am and then again at dinner around 4:00pm. Mark is eating breakfast as we speak. He’s eating ribs. It’s the first picture. I just had cheap deli meat... and cheese with bacon bits. We all don’t have to do it the same but we do have to be mindful of sugar, insulin, and industrial seed oils. These all cause inflammation and weight gain. I saw a patient this week, who I’m pretty sure has PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). She is 21, does crossfit, and just had a nutritionist make her a meal plan. The meal plan consisted of 130 grams of protein, 180 grams of carbs, and I had an instant heart attack and cannot remember how many grams of fat she said. PCOS is insulin resistance. She works and goes to school. She would NEVER be able to burn off 180 grams of carbs, in my opinion. She is setting herself up for failure. I personally don’t think anyone, even without PCOS or insulin resistance, should have that many carbs per day. I just don’t see the benefit. I think most people should be around 50 grams per day and diabetics or other compromised people need 20-30 grams per day. You get scared when I say that but that’s because we are all addicts. You love your best friend.......sugar. It’s ok. We will get there. Love you all and praying for you always. Some of you are going through hardships right now and you’ve been moved to the top of the prayer list. Dont give up!!!

The answer to Tuesday trivia is false! Your body/pancreas doesn’t know what kind of sugar you ate, it just knows it has to release insulin to bring sugar down. Natural sugar is another crutch for food addiction. Everyone wants to eat their fruit to be healthy. In my opinion, fruit is one of the least healthy food. Meat and animal protein, is by far, more nutritious than fruit. People will say they need the minerals from fruit, for example potassium in bananas. There is mor...e potassium in an avocado and it will not spike your sugar as much. We’ve all been duped and it’s up to you to change the course of your health. You won’t hear this from nutrition experts or providers so you’re going to have to be your own advocate. I’ve shared this before but when you wear a CGM (continuous glucose monitor) you’ll see that a candy bar, chocolate chip cookies, dippin dots, and funnel cake spike your sugar LESS THAN A BANANA. Really crazy but true. This is why you have to be mindful of what you’re eating and the response your body has. Get a CGM for yourself and see what’s going on. You CANNOT LOSE weight easily with elevated blood sugar and insulin, unless you exercise hours and hours and hours a day. Plus the ups and downs of sugar and insulin keep you hungry.........and HUNGER ALWAYS WINS. It’s a survival instinct that you can’t out smart. Eat the right foods that keep you full and give your body fuel and nutrients and you’ll succeed. Thanks for playing!! I’ve shared these before but these are the boys CGM while eating bananas. Too much of a spike FOR NOTHING.

Tuesday trivia..... true or false....When eating carbohydrates/sugar, make sure they are natural sugar because your pancreas can tell the difference between fruit sugar and candy/ice cream/chocolate sugar? It will not spike sugar if it’s natural sugar from fruit? Thanks for playing!!
