DID YOU KNOW..that the City of St. Peters has a nitrogen tire-filling station, a free service provided to St. Peters residents that is available from April through September? The station is located at the Environmental Services building at 135 Ecology Drive, behind Recycle City. Nitrogen filling is available by appointment only on Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. 3:30 p.m. and on every 3rd Saturday of the month from 8:15-1:30 p.m. Appointments must be scheduled in adva...nce by calling 636-970-1456 or online at our website https://gis.stpetersmo.net/e-Resident/Nitrogen.aspx . Residents must show their Resident Privilege Card. Non-residents can also have their tires filled for a fee of $30 that must be paid in advance by cash only at 131 Ecology Drive. By filling your tires with nitrogen, you can increase the miles per gallon your vehicle gets by as much as 2.5 percent, saving on average 15 gallons per year, according to EPA estimates. If 10 percent of St. Peters residents convert their vehicle tires to nitrogen, approximately 68,400 few gallons of gasoline would be burned in our community, saving money and emitting less carbon dioxide into the air. Nitrogen filled tires also last long because the tires keep their pressure longer and do not have the extreme fluctuations in pressure that air filled tires experience.
