Dear Business Leader: On behalf of the Ste. Genevieve Chamber of Commerce, I would like to give you an update on our 2021 Leadership Ste. Genevieve Program. Taking into account the ongoing pandemic, business restrictions, and public health recommendations, we are cancelling the 2021 Leadership Program. There was much thought put into this decision and it was not made lightly. As we look back on the challenges from our 2020 Leadership Program that faced many challenges duri...ng the pandemic including delays and schedule changes, we feel this decision is best so we do not potentially compromise the quality of the program for this year’s attendees and hosts. We appreciate all efforts that have made our past two seasons possible and do look forward to the great potential of a full Leadership Program class in 2022. Respectfully, Therese Gegg, Vice President Ste. Genevieve Chamber of Commerce

No doubt you've heard a little bit about the new stimulus bill. What's in it for small business? Here are a few highlights: The bill includes more than $284 billion for first and second forgivable Paycheck Protection Program loans, expanded PPP eligibility for nonprofit organizations and news outlets, and modifications to the program to serve small businesses, nonprofits and independent restaurants. The language ensures that churches and faith-based organizations are eligible... for PPP loans, according to a summary circulated Sunday night by the office of House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.). Businesses that received PPP loans and had them forgiven will be allowed to deduct the costs covered by those loans on their federal tax returns. While the issue had been a point of contention, Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) said the costs would be deductible under the final agreement. The package provides $15 billion for independent movie theaters and cultural institutions. The deal includes $20 billion for targeted grants through the Economic Injury Disaster Loans program. The package also includes a tax break for corporate meal expenses urged by the White House and denounced by Democrats. Dubbed the three-martini lunch tax deduction by opponents, the tax break was promoted by Trump as a way to revive the restaurant industry. Lawmakers said they reserved some of the PPP funds for very small businesses, as well as lending through community-based lenders and minority depository institutions. https://www.washingtonpost.com/.../stimulus-package.../... Be like Santa...Shop local for all your peace and tranquil gifts this year! Lots of great local deals during the Holiday Christmas Festival!

Ste. Genevieve Chamber of Commerce 13.11.2020

ANNOUNCEMENT: Holiday Christmas Festival adjusts for pandemic STE. GENEVIEVE Holiday Christmas Festival Executive Director Annette Rolfe has announced pandemic-related adjustments to the 36th annual Ste. Genevieve Holiday Christmas Festival which will be this week-end Saturday December 5th and Sunday December 6th, 2020. Many activities and entertainment venues that have been part of the event have been dropped this year due to the pandemic.... For instance, no chamber choir, no community choir, no Kantorei choir, no receptions, no indoor carols, no trolley rides, no readers from Friends of the Library telling stories to children sitting on park benches throughout town, and no Le Revillion at the Mamie Shaw House. These program changes were accepted by the Ste. Genevieve County Health Department. These deletions were already left off the completed program. Within this week several changes will now be adjusted to the program. They are as follows. No Municipal Band concert. No throwing candy in the parade. However, the GFWC Woman’s Club of Ste. Genevieve will be handing out small bags of candy in Lions Park. The Lions will still host FREE photos with Santa in their beautifully decorated Park, but will not serve food. In the past they served not only food and hot chocolate but gave a FREE hot dog, bag of chips, and a bottled water to all children 12 and under when accompanied by an adult. This year the Holiday Christmas Festival will donate a McDonalds Happy Meal gift card to all children 12 and under when accompanied by an adult FREE while they last. This will help to eliminate interaction with people outside of your group and help control occupancy limits. Entertainment will be supplied by country rock artist Vernon Flieg. Also, there is a change of location in the program for The Isaac Lausell Trio. The group has been moved from the First Presbyterian Church at 160 S. Main to Music Art Love at 199 N. Main on the corner of Main and Washington across the street from Stella and Me. The last performance of the week-end is on Sunday December 6th at 3:00 in the Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church. It is a performance by renowned artist Amy Camie performing live her CD Embracing the Spirit of Christmas. Masks are required at all indoor concerts and lectures per request of the artists and speakers. Masks are strongly suggested to wear at the parade. Stay within your group or family, and socially distance yourself from people not in your sphere. This program has been approved by the Ste. Genevieve County Health Department. Stay safe, have an enchanted experience, and Merry Christmas to you. Annette Rolfe, Executive Director For more information www.visitstegen.com or call 800-373-7007.
