Did you know over time your vision changes, causing colors and patterns to appear different than what others might see? When we select finishes for senior living communities, we keep these crucial factors in mind. One way we ensure proper color selection is by wearing yellow tinted glasses when choosing fabrics. Alicia Nicolay participated in a design expert round table discussing how to adapt for COVID-19. "Interior designers in seniors housing sector place more emphasis on antimicrobial materials, socially distant layouts and outdoor spaces." Click the link below to read more. http://ow.ly/Js6M50BDxAx
Melissa Keeney is featured in The Electrical Distributor [tED] Magazine discussing the growing demand in senior housing. She covers topics ranging from Covid-19 and our Infection Prevention Research Division, blending healthcare and hospitality, seniors and technology, and shifting senior housing communities to more urban settings. I hope the current pandemic won’t alter this movement toward more urban settings. Urban development offers an opportunity for community and multigenerational engagement for residents while also addressing some of the middle market needs. Designing floor patterns can benefit a project in many ways. The pattern can easily guide the user throughout the space to reach their destination. Floor patterns can be incorporated into a design to help people stand in a line or socially distance from one another. A change in the flooring allows users to distinguish a room change when not defined by walls. Plus, they are fun to look at! #purposefuldesign #BestPractices www.spellmanbrady.com
