Once you have filed your federal income taxes, you can check the status of your refund online through the IRS website. They will tell you when your tax return is received, when your refund is approved, and when you refund has been issued. They also have an IRS2Go app that can be used to check your refund status on mobile devices!

The Missouri Property Tax Credit Claim is a program that allows certain senior citizens and 100 percent disabled individuals to apply for a credit based on the real estate taxes or rent they have paid for the year. The credit is for a maximum of $750.00 for renters and $1,100.00 for owners. The actual credit is based on amount paid and total household income. Check out the Missouri Department of Revenue website to see if you or someone you know qualifies!

As the year comes to a close, it’s time to start thinking about tax season! 2016 individual tax returns will be due by April 18th, 2017. We will begin filing tax returns on January 23rd. For anyone expecting to receive the Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit, please note that the IRS will be holding these refunds until at least February 15th.
