When you can’t teach a cooking class in a kitchen... or around students... you bring the kitchen to the office to teach virtually! And WHAT A BLESSING it was because I was able to see my classmates in their own kitchens cooking along with me! What a cool, new experience that I might develop the *taste* for Today I shared the process of #lactofermentation and #pickling as a way of preserving food and enhancing #nutrition and how to weave it into your lifestyle. Pictured: f...ermented carrots and fresh basil and #chive blossoms (picked from my #garden this morning!) - fermented #lemons with #aronia and #schizandra berries - & pickled #cabbage with #basil and #ACV infused with #garlic, #horseradish, #ginger, and #turmeric roots. Everyone made their own variations according to their herbal availability, preferences & usage plans. It was truly amazing. The potential for connection online continues to grow for me. THANK YOU @prairiewiseherbal for allowing me to share my passion with this year’s class - this was my third and final #nutritionclass for this year’s PrairieWise Herbal School students. It’s been a lovely pleasure to spend time with you and as always, has been a valuable learning experience for me as I continue to grow as an herbalist and facilitator. #thankyou @ Independence, Missouri See more
A change in direction doesn’t mean you have to stop growing. Sometimes life blooms upside down. #keepgoing #keepgrowing

Okay so I know Kava isn’t TECHNICALLY a bitter herb but when I see people try it for the first time, *sometimes* they say it tastes bitter but they *always* make a weird squishy face and say their tongue tingles. So to me, that experience is similar enough to a bitter herb especially considering the downward energy that Kava kava and bitter flavors both have on the body. Kava kava root is a sedative and mild nervous system relaxant although too large of a dose can hav...Continue reading

The great thing about hot oil massage is that you get to cool down while also heating up If you've never used a massage oil candle, here's how it works: - Light candle - Let it burn to melt a fair amount of wax/butter... - Extinguish flame - Pour the melted wax directly on the skin and massage! It will be warm and aromatic, leaving your muscles relaxed and skin smelling like chocolate chamomile The base is made with organic cacao butter, German chamomile infused avocado oil, and blended with Roman chamomile oil - plus some! I'm still doing local pickup and deliveries! Have a good weekend!
Watch me make my favorite herbal infusion and explain the difference between this preparation and normal herbal tea! Here are some things I forgot to mention: * If you don’t have a funnel or strainer (or want a little simpler infusion process) you can use a French press instead of the jar/funnel/strainer method! It’s technically less tools, and you don’t get to shake it up like you do the jar, but in the morning you just have to press down and pour into a bottle! * That...’s what one ounce of OATSTRAW looks like in a quart jar - one ounce by weight will vary in volume from herb to herb. Oatstraw doesn’t take up much room but red clover will almost fill the jar! In the case of red clover (and other light, fluffy herbs) I don’t use a full ounce because I feel like it’s a waste. And you don’t need to always use a full ounce, especially when starting out with infusions! Half an ounce will work fine, but offer less nutrition of course :) I use less to make my herbs last longer when I need to! See more
Preparing oatstraw infusion with hibiscus! Oatstraw is a mineral builder and nervous system tonic. It makes EVERYTHING all soft and juicy! Hibiscus offers vitamins and phytonutrients and the added flavor that makes this nourishing drink taste like tangy fruit punch! Add an ounce of oat straw and a tablespoon or two of hibiscus petals to a quart of hot water and steep for 4-10 hours (overnight makes it easy) - strain in the morning, chill, and sip with a slice of lime or lemon! #oatstraw #hibiscus #favorite #herbalinfusion

You know those hugs that sort of help you catch your breath or sigh with relief? Like you’ve waited YEARS to touch this person but it’s only been months? Like you’re finally touching someone you LOVE? Yeah I know we’ve been missing touching those people lately. They are the air in my lungs and the wind in my sails and my lungs feel constricted with longing for their touch. Being able to see people at a distance or virtually has been great but I miss HUGS! So this blend ...I made earlier this year is really coming in handy. So I thought you might like it too, if you’ve felt a been constricted lately... take a deep breath with osha, damiana, hawthorn, rose, & violet. And remember, Self Hugs still count! Hug yourself with a little #selflove pose from #EmbodiedYogaPrinciples ~ best enjoyed with Hug in a Bottle #humantouch #hugs #quarantinelife #huginabottle #rose #damiana #violet #hawthornberry #osha #herbalism #herbaltonic #eyp @ Independence, Missouri https://www.scorpiorisingbotanicals.com//hug-in-a-bottle-b
