SBU is providing the Bearcat Blueprint as an overview of current plans for in-person instruction on all campuses during the Fall 2020 semester. Highlights of t...he plan are listed below. In cases when physical distancing is not possible, hybrid or hyflex options will combine in-person and online components. Students should check Blackboard after Aug 12 for details about specific courses. Health and Safety: We all share the responsibility in protecting our health and safety. We ask the Bearcat family to work together to minimize the spread of the virus and create the safest environment possible. Check the website for details about health protocols that will be in place this fall semester. Bearcat Care Kits: Each student will receive a Bearcat Care Kit with items to assist with health and safety protocols. These kits will include face coverings, health supplies, and health education information. Students with a meal plan will also receive a card to use for to-go meals from the cafeteria. Face coverings: Out of respect for those around you, we ask you to wear a face covering when in classrooms and public spaces. SBU will provide students and employees with fabric face coverings at the start of the semester. Faculty also will be provided with clear face shields to ensure effective communication during classes. Daily self-assessments: To help identify potential cases of COVID-19 in the earliest stages, students and employees are expected to self-monitor by recording symptoms and temperature readings daily. Buildings will be equipped with contactless thermometer stations for regular temperature monitoring.
