The Riverside Missouri Fire Department is always on the job - in the cool of winter and the heat of summer - to keep our community safe and healthy. During the month of May, our crews responded to 83 calls for service, completed nearly 400 hour of training and conducted 60 business inspections. All of this work is done to make sure that our residents, businesses and guests can enjoy top-of-the-line fire and medical response. It's about keeping you and your family safe while you're in Riverside. Every month, the RFD reports on its activities to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen and then we share that same information here with you. Always here, always ready and always #UpstreamFromOrdinary

City crews have been working throughout the morning - clearing roads and addressing slick spots throughout Riverside. Pre-treatment efforts started yesterday afternoon as the forecast called for a slick and cold start to the holiday weekend - and crews remain on it at this hour. Slow down as you travel today. The US National Weather Service Kansas City Missouri has issued a Winter Storm Warning that will be in effect from midnight tonight (Happy New Year !) until 8 pm tomorrow evening. Heavy mixed precipitation is expected with snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches. Needless to say, travel may be dangerous and should be limited. Riverside Public Works crews are treating roadways, bridges and other City-maintained surfaces with salt and pre-treatment today in an effort to stay ah...ead of the weather. Please give them space to safely keep our roadways clear. One other request - help our crews maintain their curb-to-curb plow efforts by parking vehicles in garages or driveways overnight tonight. It keeps our crews moving and limits the risk of any damage to your car - so we'll call that a win-win. Let's ring in 2021 safe, warm and out of the weather - here's to an #UpstreamFromOrdinary New Year !
