Sitting at a picnic table with my best pal Duke. It felt great just to get out and also celebrate my Grandpa Golfcarts 79th b-day. I think I had some of the best comfort food (and drinks!) in the Midwest
The Fair Housing Act was signed into law by congress in 1968. While the legislation made it illegal to "steer" buyers towards certain neighborhoods based on their race, implicit bias has not disappeared. The goal is to protect home-owners (or potential owners) from discrimination. This article does a great job of explaining just how significant a role realtors have in ensuring the principals of this legislation are upheld in the real world. Let's all do our part by recognizing our own implicit bias, and having uncomfortable conversations with ourselves. Check it out! https://resourcekc.com/understanding-hidden-bias-p851-177.h
Mid-quarantine selfie. Haven’t had a haircut in 2 months. Using my excess time to work on music. It’s honestly one of my favorite things to do. I can’t believe I’ve been producing since 2016 . Oo, and I’m working with a few clients in real estate. I’ve got one home under contract at the moment. Hope you’re making the most of this time
These are a few of the changes to buying and selling real estate as a result of the coronavirus.
I realized that I’ve got two sides to me. When I am around people who are older than I am, often while in the trenches of real estate, I hear that I come off as older than I actually am. On the flip side, when I am with my younger family members, or even the kids I’ve taught to swim, they tell me that I’m just like them. I’m a big kid to them. What an incredible way to be perceived by others. Make the adults think I’m wise beyond my years, and make the kids think I haven’t... grown a day past 12. So what? What does that mean for me as a person? I think...and I’ve been wrong before, but I think that I’m not afraid to be whoever I chose to be. I chose to be what makes me happy in the moment. I sell houses and build professional relationships, but I still climb trees and jump on trampolines. Because it makes me happy. I am far from perfect, I’ve got lots of room to grow. I am just happy to be comfy in my own skin. I am happy to be who I chose to be, in any given moment. See more
Real Estate is the career path I chose early on. I spent my years in high school apprenticing with top KC real estate agents and working at the community pool to save up for my schooling. Some people gave me grief for skipping out on college, but I know where my heart is. Real estate. I cannot imagine doing anything else. I have a passion for helping my clients unlock the potential this market has to offer. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me on this journey!
