ReEngage helped me to open up a little more and build my confidence back. I’ve learned to take responsibility for my actions and words. I received valuable information which I will continue to practice in the future. Thank you Mr. Knott, - Arisha Logan https://www.reengageinc.org

I have learned a lot from the ReEngage program. The one thing that stands out to me is the way Mr. Knott spelled out the process of setting goals. You cannot achieve anything in life without setting goals and this process I learned in the class makes it easy. I can now see myself accomplishing whatever I choose to do. Since enrolling in the ReEngage program I’ve learned the importance of being organized. The more organized you are in your mind the more organized your life bec...omes. I also learned an easier way to set goals and how to accomplish them step by step. I’ve received the tools to overcome obstacles and the importance of having interpersonal relationships. The big thing I learned was accountability for what I do and say. I learned the importance of forgiveness to those who have wronged me and to myself for those I... have wronged because moving forward it is not good for me to have hate in my heart. It will be hard for me to change into the person I need be with hatred in my heart. I would like to thank Mr. Knott and the ReEngage program for working with me and giving me the skills that will stick with me for life. Kentrell Spikes https://www.reengageinc.org See more

I would like to give honor to God. I would like to thank Mr. Knott for this amazing gift God has given him. This program has helped changed my life in 3 weeks. It helped reinforce the life skills I had but showed me how to use them to become a better woman. I love this program and I wish all my peers have this amazing opportunity to get wisdom and love. It teaches discipline, leadership skills, how to manage anger and the power of forgiveness which is the key to unlocking the... door to my success. I love the 3 P’s; protect, provide, and praise. In my addiction, I didn’t do these things for my family. This program not only helped you to get a job, but I also looked forward to going to class to get more wisdom and knowledge from Mr. Knott. Today I am confident of my ability to do what is necessary to improve my life and my community. I am worthy as a person and I have a newfound compassion for myself, my family, and my community. I love the way my new life is developing. New doors are opening and I owe a special thanks to Mr. Knott and the ReEngage program. Thank you so much Tamika Estes https://www.reengageinc.org

4 More Hired Please join us in celebrating the recent hiring of 4 more graduates of the ReEngage program. Thanks to Tim Duggan and our friends at Phronesis Design Group, we were able to place 4 graduates in the workforce. So not only is Phronesis repurposing historic landmarks, they are using workers who may have in the past not been able to participate in the workforce. The men will be performing general laborer duties at Phronesis’s 20th & Vine restoration and redevelopment project. These guys have gone from being dependents to being independent and self-sustaining. With the spring thaw, we continue to see opportunities for those who want to work hard and make a way for themselves and their families. Congratulations to Jacob Tungate, Leonard Oliver, Demetrius Wilson, and Arlvelt Bruster.

Out of the many discussions I have participated in with contractors, labor leaders, and politicians’ one issue has become evident and this is the need for a pre-apprenticeship program in the KCI project and all of our other major public projects. The reason so many of these projects have failed in the past is that despite the good intentions of politicians and community leaders the MBE/WBE participation requirements are inherently unfair. The idea to force contractors to pay untrained workers the same rate as trained works is not an incentive, but a disincentive.
