While it is critical to determine the root cause of what is driving your constipation, there are several natural supplements and herbs that can be utilized as temporary bandaids to provide relief in the meantime. These are some of my favorites: Aloe 450 by Orthomolecular Products or Aloe Ferox by Immunologic Health Systems. The inner gel of the aloe leaf, known as aloe latext, contains anthraquinones, which are natural laxatives. They increase the amount of fluid in the col...on and may also serve to stimulate colon contractions. Be careful, these are very strong! 1 capsule is usually enough to get the job done for most people. Bowel Mover by CellCore: This is a great blend of herbs that contains aloe, senna, cascara sagrada, garlic, clove, fennel seed, cayenne, and more. Senna and cascara sagrada have been used for ages as natural means to help stimulate bowel contractions, relieving constipation. Some of the other herbs help combat microbial infections in the gut that may be contributing the constipation. Magnesium citrate capsules or Natural Calm powder: taking this at higher doses will cause water to be drawn into the intestines, which will trigger a bowel movement. Experiment with the dosage so that it can help you go to the bathroom, but does not cause diarrhea. Peppermint or fennel essential oil: a few drops of these essential oils mixed with a carrier oil like jojoba or olive oil and massaged on the belly button is said to stimulate digestion and may help relieve constipation. Poor nutrition is the number one reason why so many Americans suffer from constipation. Many of us are not getting enough fiber in their diet to stay regular. Insoluble fiber, like roughage from vegetables, has a bulking effect for the stool to help it pass through the intestines. Soluble fiber like that in apples or black beans helps speed up the transit time of the stool in the intestines so that you remove food from your body in a timely fashion. When eating a S.A.D. (stan...dard American diet) that is high in refined carbohydrates which have had the fiber stripped out, and high in fats, which do not contain any fiber, many Americans are not getting the recommended minimum 38g of daily fiber intake they need to keep the bowels moving properly. Those with constipation have hard, painful, and/or irregular bowel movements, all of which getting enough fiber in the diet would help with. Hydration is another key factor in constipation. While fiber is important for bowel regulation, too much fiber without enough water can actually CAUSE constipation. If the body does not have enough water to carry out it's necessary processes for survival, it will pull water from the intestines, leaving the stool hard and shriveled, making it much more difficult to pass without proper internal lubrication. Americans have an affinity for coffee, sugary soda, and alcohol, all of which are dehydrating. To ensure proper hydration, drink at least half of your body weight in ounces of water each day. Adding a pinch of sea salt to your water will help it hydrate you cells more efficiently. Coconut water and herbal teas are other great options to improve hydration. For people on the ketogenic diet, they often to not eat enough fiber because they are trying to keep their carbohydrate content low. Avocados are a good source of fiber. Psyllium husk is another great option as it provide a ton of fiber with little to no added calorie or absorable carbohydrate content!

For those with frequent constipation, it is important to do whatever you can to support your body's ability to eliminate. Here are several suggestions for therapies and activities that can help temporarily relieve this issue: Abdominal Massage: You can get a professional massage or do this yourself at home. You can use different techniques such as abdominal massage, colon massage, foot reflexology, etc. This link provides insutrctions for several different types of self-massa...ge. Using castor oil or essential oils like peppermint or fennel can help make the massage even more effective. https://www.healthline.com//massage-for-constipation-relie Enemas & Colonics: Sometimes having a little bit of help to clear the contents of the colon may be necessary. You can do enemas at home with a latex bag or stainless steel enema bucket. You can use plain water, baking soda, or even coffee as an enema solution to help remove backed up feces and help detoxify the colon. Colonics can be done by professional colon hydrotherapists. This is done by using pressurized water in the colon to help clear it out. It can help remove impacted fecal matter and build up mucoid plaque. While both of these are helpful modalities, they can be depleting to your body's mineral stores and they do not address the root cause of your constipation. Breathing exercises: Most people are actually breathing incorrectly when they use the bathroom. They will clench and strain, breathing from the chest. When you make sure to breath deeply in and out from your belly, this naturally causes your intestines to expand and contract, essentially massaging your innards, as the muscles of your abdomen push against them. Called "diaphragmatic breathing", this helps manually facilitate the movement of the stool through your intestines, as well as stimulating your parasympathetic nervous system, otherwise known as the "rest and digest" reflex.

You're pooping wrong! Say whaaat? While we are so grateful for modern plumbing and sewage, the invention of the toilet has had potentially negative consequences for some people in terms of their bathroom habits. For those with constipation, who strain to fully void the bowels, this could be a simple correction related to posture. Before outhouse toilets became mainstream around the 18th or 19th century, our ancestors squatted to relieve their bowels. There is a bend between t...he rectum and the anus where feces builds up. When you are standing, this bend is at a 90 degree angle, which puts upward pressure on the colon, helping keep the contents of your bowels inside of you. Sitting on the toilet increases this angle only about 10 degrees, while a deep squat makes this angle about 125 degrees (1). The closer you get to your bowels to being in a straight line, the more pressure this takes off the intestines and allows for easier and more thorough passage of poop. It's like taking the kink out of a garden hose! While it is understandable that most people aren't going to ditch their toilets for a hole in the ground, the "Squatty Potty" seems to provide the best of both worlds. It is a plastic stand that you put at the base of your toilet and place your feet on when you use the toilet. It helps simulate a squatting angle by raising your knees up, allowing the colon to straighten out more so than when you sit on the toilet without one! You can get them online or in a two-pack at Costco! https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com///j.1757-5672.2009.00057.x

According to that children's book, Everybody poops! But for nearly 42 million American adults, that is not always the case. Constipation was defined as having LESS than 3 bowel movements per WEEK! This study was done in 2013 (1), and the number has likely risen since then, as the health of our country declines. A study from 1989 estimated only about 4 million adults experienced frequent constipation, and about 900 people die annually from diseases associated with or related ...to constipation (2). That means rates of constipation have potentially risen over 10-fold in the last 30 years! Our medical system currently tells us it is "normal" to poop as little as once every 72 hours, that is three whole days, or twice a week! Bowel transit time, or the time it take from the food entering your mouth to it coming out the other end, should ideally be 24 hours. You should be pooping at least once a day to make sure the contents of your bowels are not causing you to reabsorb toxins through the intestines. Constipation is about three times more common in women than men, and is more common in low income areas, young children, and especially adults over 65. Common causes of constipation include inflammation which may be caused by gut infections or eating foods you are intolerant to, dehydration from not drinking enough water or drinking too much soda or alcohol, eating a Standard American Diet high in fat, processed sugars, and too little fiber, and even emotional stress. While many different binders exist, I strive to use the most effective ones I can find for my clinic. After years of research and testing, I have found CellCore binders to be the most powerful on the market by far! What makes CellCore binders so special? To start, they have several different binders that are specifically designed to effectively bind various toxins, including biological toxins like mycotoxins, heavy metals, environmental chemicals like glyphosate, viruses, and... radioactive elements. Activated charcoal and bentonite clay, two commonly used binders like act like sponges, attracting and soaking toxins up into their structures. They are considered spent carbons, meaning they cannot create energy that the cells need to heal after binding and removing the toxins. CellCore binders have been formulated with extracts of fulvic and humic acids that allow them to nourish the cells once the toxins have been removed, to help them return to optimal function. Most binders do not go systemic, meaning they will only absorb toxins that are already in the G.I. tract. Most fulvic acid supplements on the market have not been extracted from humic acid. Humic acids are long molecules meaning that will not pass into the blood stream from the digestive tract. Because of this, most fulvic and humic acid supplements on the market will not go systemic. CellCore has figured out how to separate the fulvic from the humic, allowing both of them to do their respective jobs, and get deep into tissues of the body where toxins are trapped. Zeolite can work as a systemic chelator, but I have found CellCore products are significantly more effective for removing heavy metals and environmental chemicals.

CellCore BioToxin binder is my favorite binder for ensuring my clients do not experience painful die-off symptoms, or herxing, when they are on protocols to kill bacteria, parasites, mold, yeast, or viruses. If you have ever done an anti-microbial protocol and felt like crap, this is likely a major factor! Micro-organisms have harmful waste products that can poison the body. BTB effectively binds many molecules, including but not limited to mycotoxins from mold in the envir...onment or that is colonizing in the body, ammonia from bacterial overgrowths or infections, and acetaldehyde from yeasts like Candida. Acetaldehyde reacts with dopamine, causing mental symptoms such as anxiety, depression, poor concentration, and brain fog. Mycotoxins from mold can cause inflammation all over the body, especially in the lungs and brain. If you are a poor detoxer, these mycotoxins can persist inside of you, even after leaving a moldy environment, and may constantly trigger an inflammatory response until you have effective assistance in removing them from the body. Overgrowths of any of these organisms can cause these uncomfortable symptoms, but will be unleashed and flood into your system as you are killing these unwelcome house-guests off. Having BioToxin Binder on hand is one of the best ways to support your body during these times!

HM-ET Binder is my go -to for clients with heavy metal or environmental chemical intoxication, as it was specifically designed to pull these toxins from the tissues and safely escort them out of the body. This binder can be used to effectively clean up after acute exposures, or helpful during protocols when these toxins begin to be mobilized from deep inside the tissues. Heavy metals are everywhere in the modern environment. Certain occupations such as dentistry, painting, co...nstruction, and automobile mechanics are constantly being exposed to heavy metals. Silver dental amalgams, too much fish, birth control, and cosmetics are other common sources. Heavy metals can even be transferred in utero from mother to fetus via the placenta. Symptoms such as heart palpitations, anxiety, insomnia, intense fatigue, muscle twitching, and a metallic taste in the mouth, especially during parasite protocols, are signs that the body would benefit from HM-ET binder to soak up heavy metals that are being liberated. In addition to sauna therapy, HM-ET binder is a fantastic way to remove glyphosate from the body. I recently spoke with renowned leading expert on glyphosate exposure, Dr. Huber, who told me that HM-ET binder is one of the most effective methods he has ever seen. On a proper detox protocol including HM-ET binder, it takes 6-8 weeks to remove measurable glyphosate from the body.

Everyone knows how important it is to get enough fiber in your diet, but what you may not realize is that fiber in also acts as a binder to help detoxify the body! The fiber from food is not absorbed in the gut and passes through, picking up bile and toxins on its way out of the colon. Because of this, it does not pull toxins from the brain or other organs, but it does absorb toxins found in the G.I. tract. Eating whole grains, where the fiberous germ has not been removed, li...ke brown rice or whole wheat instead of white rice or refined white flour adds beneficial fiber in the diet. Legumes like black beans and lentils, quinoa, chia seeds, and apples are other great food sources of fiber. Psyllium husk is a great addition to get more fiber in the diet, especially if you are on a ketogenic diet and trying to keep your carbohydrate intake low. Apple pectin or citrus pectin like Pecatsol are effective fiber-based binder supplements. Try to make sure you are getting at least 38 grams of fiber per day regardless of your diet. One thing to note with extra fiber, and binders in general, is to drink more water so you do not become constipated!

Binders are solid particles that pass through the digest tract unabsorbed, attracting and grabbing onto toxins like heavy metals and environmental chemicals as they pass through. This is beneficial because it prevents toxins processed by the liver from re-circulating and being reabsorbed in the intestines. This also relieves burden off the kidneys, because they do not have to filter as many toxins into the urine, as the toxins pass in the feces out through the colon instead. ...Some binders, such as bentonite clay or activated charcoal, latch onto the toxins themselves, attracting substances based off their charge or molecular structure. This means they bind to both beneficial and toxic substances. Most binders should be taken away from meals, as they can also bind essential minerals such as magnesium or potassium. Other binders, like psyllium husk fiber, mop up toxin-containing bile that comes from the liver. Mopping up bile is an essential function, as the body may re-circulate bile up to 17 times, becoming more and more toxic and sludgy. When bile is removed from circulation, bile and toxins comes out the colon and the body synthesizes fresh bile.
