Starting next week The Ray County Museum will be closed to visitors for the winter season. We'll reopen at the beginning of April. If you'd like to volunteer to help clean and reorganize, please call the museum! You can still purchase Ray-Opoly games and tickets for the Bicentennial dinner, just call us at 816-776-2305. Thank you! Have a safe and wonderful holiday!
Merry Christmas from all of us at the Ray County Historical Society and Museum! Thank you for all your support this past year!
This is the time of year many people give to their favorite causes. Please consider a donation to the Ray County Historical Society in your year-end giving. Any amount helps, large or small. In a "normal" year, the museum has a number of fundraising events that help up meet expenses: donations from museum visitors; revenue from Ghost Hunts, teas, rental of our meeting room, sales, etc. This past year, the only event we have been able to sponsor were a couple of Ghost Hunts ...that were limited in attendance. We have tried to provide you bits of Ray County history and glimpses of the museum through our Facebook page and web site. If you enjoy or share our posts, please help us out. We’ll make it through another decade with your backing. You can donate online by visiting our web page at https://raycountymuseum.org/home/support/ See more

https://www.npr.org//one-third-of-u-s-museums-may-not-surv This is so true. To be blunt, the museum is struggling We generally operate on $1,000 a month through donations, events and sales.... This past month, our receipts were $125. We had a Ghost Event on October 3, which should bring in a few hundred dollars. Those events are now really limiited in size and frequency. We also realize that many of you are also experiencing a reduction in income, so we understand why many cannot help us out. I know you are all aware of the important role that the museum and genealogical library play in the community and county. If you are able to help, your donation will be of immense help in getting us through this ordeal. Thanking you in advance David Blyth, President Ray County Historical Society See more
