A rescue swimmer will jump out of a helicopter to save people at anytime, even the worst of conditionsstorms, dead of night, cold weather They will rescue one person at a time. It is important for the rescue swimmer to know their limits before they become exhausted paddling in rough waters. They need to make sure they have enough strength to swim back to the helicopter before they are too weak and themself become a casualty. ... 2020 IS EXHAUSTING It is ok to take a break. Know what your limits are and don’t feel guilty about needing to care for yourself. If you don’t care for yourself, then eventually you won’t be able to care for the things and people that matter the most to you. If you find yourself becoming exhausted, take a break. This year’s winter break for college students will be longer than it ever has been before. Students left in the summer as a kid under your guidance and they have now had a small taste of independence. You may expect that once your child moves back home for the break that things will go back to the way they were before they left for college. ... It will be important that you set clear boundaries and expectations. Just as important, is to discuss these boundaries and expectations with your child and have them in place before you have any problems. Expectations may include: Curfew Chores Schedule respect-if you have special holiday events you want them to attend, let them know early and they should let you know what scheduled events they have planned. Respect-this can be them picking up after themself, texting you when and where they are going and what time they will be home, or picking up after themself Hopefully they have demonstrated that they can live on their own and have developed routines and patterns. You don’t need to micromanage them. Little Johnny does not need to be in bed every night at 10pm and you wake him up every morning. Your boundaries need to be: Clear Set in advance Communicated with your child My wife and I had to set boundaries for our freshman last year when he came home from University of Central Arkansas and will do so again now that we have a freshman at University of Nebraska. Boundaries and understanding will set the course for a healthy relationship with your child as they are becoming an adult. #collegestudents #collegestudent #collegebreak #collegechristmasbreak #collegeparent #collegeparents #collegeparenting #parentofacollegestudent #parentofacollegekid #parentofacollegefreshman #boundaries #healthyboundaries #boundariesarehealthy #settingboundaries #universityofnebraska #universityofnebraskalincoln #universityofcentralarkansas #healthyparenting #curfew #respect #respecteachother #houserules #respectinthehome #dontmicromanage

Did you know that what you feed your body affects your physical and mental health? Your brain is constantly working, even when you are asleep and your brain needs fuel. Just like your car won’t work it’s best if you put junk in its tank, neither will your mind and body.... Studies have shown that the risk of depression can be 25%-35% less if we fuel our body with fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, lean meats, and unprocessed foods. Not being properly hydrated can also affect your mood and concentration. We have all hear drink 8 oz. of water 8 times per day. That is a good guideline, but you will need take in account how hot it is and how much you exercise. Drinking more water will help flush toxins and make you feel fuller and make you less tempted to eat more or grab the junk food. To help reach your water intake goals, fill a pitcher or jug up in the morning with the amount you need to drink for the day. If you don’t like plain water, try experimenting with different fruits in your water. Just fill a pitcher up and add strawberries, lemons, oranges, mint leaves, cucumbers, or any combination you like. As the day goes on, the water gets more flavorful. #water #hydrate #healthymindandbody #drinkmorewater #properdiet

Today’s tip for surrounding yourself with people you love. With us still trying to social distance, it is more about staying connected with people you love, rather than surrounding yourself with people. Friendships have a major impact on your health and well being.... Friends can increase your sense of belonging and purpose, reduce your stress, improve your self confidence, and can encourage you. When is the last time you called a friend from high school, college, or even elementary school? Is there someone that has no idea that they have made an impact on your life?
