We would like to give a warm welcome to Nicholas Miller, PLS. He recently joined our team taking on the role of Manager of Land Surveying. Nick joins Powell CWM, Inc. with over 20 years of experience in the land surveying and mapping field. Nick received his Professional Land Surveyor license in 2016 and has also obtained an FAA Certified sUAS Remote Pilot license. Nick came across the land surveying field by chance and quickly discovered how interesting and rewarding it is. I am excited to implement new technology and methods that enhance the profession and better serve clients, said Nick. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time at the lake time with his family and playing cards with friends. Nick is an outstanding addition to the team. The Farmhouse KC Event Venue in Independence, Missouri is a welcome addition to the area. We designed a 6,000 square foot event space adjacent to a surviving 1920’s era cottage. This unique event venue offers indoor and outdoor ceremony options. The space boasts four large overhead doors which open to covered patios leading to a shady outdoor bar and seating area. While indoors, delicate chandeliers hang high in the elevated ceiling between rustic beams. A private bridal suite and restroom are available inside as well. Welcome to Jade Rodell-Tipton, EI! She joined our Civil Engineering Department in January. Jade received her degree from the University of Missouri and has worked in the field since 2013. Having been interested in construction and infrastructure since childhood, Jade took a high school drafting class that sparked her desire to become an engineer. She is happy more women are beginning to choose this career path.It is encouraging seeing young girls introduced to engineering an...d related fields at a young age through STEM and engineering student outreach programs. In her spare time, Jade enjoys hiking and camping. She is also a big fan of Sporting KC and Liverpool FC Soccer! She brings some great site development and stormwater planning experience with her! Jade is friendly, professional and will help deliver superior projects to our clients! Welcome to our team!

A big welcome to our newest Professional Land Surveyor! Michelle Brown, PLS joined our team earlier this month as a Project Surveyor. Michelle is the first female Professional Land Surveyor in our firm’s history. We are excited that she has joined our team! Michelle has 13 years of land surveying experience and obtained her license in 2016. She attended UCM and received her Computer Aided Drafting and Design degree. Michelle also serves as an E6-Tech Sergeant, in the Air National Guard, working in Aviation Resource Management. In her spare time she enjoys motorcycle riding, and attending her children’s sporting events. Michelle is a great surveyor and a confident leader, she will be an asset to our Land Surveying Department!
