Legacy of Hay

The STARS program is something that should be National. They assign an individual number to each child with complex medical needs that way EMS can pull up their profile on the way to treat them in event of an emergency. They do this because they believe every kid counts. Haylee was number 74. The SCCAD took it upon themselves to come to our home to learn more about pulmonary hypertension and what would be needed to provide life saving measures for Haylee. They then took this ...information to teach and educate their colleagues on this rare disease. Also they held a special picnic event for the STARS kids to enjoy each year. Haylee called them her friends and found comfort in the fact they would be their to help her and so did we. The night she passed they work vigorously to try and save her life. Even more they were a face of comfort when we needed it the most. Our hearts are forever grateful for what they did for our family and we are so in awe of the work they do.True hero’s. They recently took their program out of state while there they honored the kids in the STARS program that have been taken to soon. Two years ago was Haylee’s wake. I wish I had a picture, as I didn’t get to see it myself but I was told that night a line formed out the door and around the building. People waited hours to pay their respects to Haylee, some people had to leave, because they couldn’t wait any longer. We saw people we hadn’t in ten years, we saw people we thought we never see again and we meant people we had only know from Facebook. This is all a testament to the person Hay was and how many lives she touched in her short life.
