Attention kiddos! We at the Buckner Police Department have been following Santa on the NORAD Santa Tracker. Soon, he will be entering the United States and its almost time to set out some milk and cookies before bed! Lots of families have Christmas traditions and some have books they read every year. On Wednesday December 2nd, 2020 just after 3:00 p.m. Officers of the Buckner Police Department, Independence Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were dispatched to the area of Lake City Valley Road and Burnley regarding a crash involving a Train and a Farm Tractor. The incident occurred as the Tractor Operator was crossing the train tracks going from one field to another. Sadly, a 53 year old male from Buckner succumbed to fatal injuries sustained in the crash.

We have been notified by Public Works of a water main break which they are currently working to fix. During this time you may experience limited or no water pressure. The city has also been placed under a boil advisory for the next 3 days as a precaution. **Buckner Police Conducts Sex Offender Compliance Checks Halloween Night** On October 31st, Officers of the Buckner Police Department worked in conjunction with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office to ensure the registered sex offenders residing in Buckner were compliant with the Halloween restrictions. All offender residences were checked, and one offender was found to be non-compliant with their restrictions. The Jackson County Sheriffs Office has a dedicated unit for tr...acking and enforcing sex offender violations within our county. The non-compliant offenders case report was sent to their unit for follow up investigation and may face criminal charges. The safety of our communities children is of the upmost importance and we will continue working diligently, every day of the year, to ensure that happens. We had a blast at Trunk or Treat last night! The event went off without a hitch, and for the most part... everyone refrained from crime all evening... except one who apparently didn’t read our earlier post . Stay tuned for more on that tomorrow. Have a good rest of your Sunday and Go Chiefs!

The Buckner Police Department wishes you and your family a safe and happy Halloween! We will have increased staffing on patrol tonight, and you will find some of your Officers at the Trunk or Treat event starting @ 5:00 pm. The event will begin on Hudson Street at the First Baptist Church and continue South past Jefferson. Everyone needs to start at the beginning and stay in line in order to satisfy social distancing requirements mandated by the Jackson County Health Departm...ent. We will have Jefferson closed at Hudson, and Hudson will be closed along the area of the event. Also, please refrain from crime tonight.
