In this week's Sunday Morning Prayer Service, Pastor Steve reflects on comfort, familiarity, and the discomfort of this current season. We also reflect on the role of the church in the midst of it all. How much should things stay the same when everything else is different? How do we balance comfort with a call to action?
Join us on Zoom on Sunday mornings at 9am for "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel: Reflections on Four Seasonal Hymns," led by Randy Smith. Featured hymns include "Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus;" "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence;" "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel;" and "In the Bleak Midwinter." This study will explore the importance of the hymns, the meaning of the featured text, and the lives of the hymn writers themselves. Even though we are not worshiping in-person, we will still gather in small groups this Sunday at 11am for a special event involving mission, outreach, and Christmas cheer. All are truly welcome!
The Third Sunday of Advent is a day of Joy. This Sunday, the Sportsmans light the candle of Joy as we look forward to the Advent of Christ. Joy is deeper than happiness, deeper than a smile on our face and a momentary feeling. And joy is even more profound when it is shared, when it is not simply a personal possession, but a gift to be shared with the world! Join us this Sunday, as we joyfully look for the advent of a Messiah and to the future God is creating in us. Worship ...is online-only and can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDJKXzJJ8k95kBc1d7V_gBQ After worship, join us for Zoom Fellowship at 11am at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83319635923 The Meeting ID is 833 1963 5923 and the password is 819Main
We study the Bible each Tuesday morning at 10am, both in-person and on Facebook Live. Please leave a comment below anytime, and feel free to view this study anytime--as we discuss music, worship, judgment, purgatory, and proclamation, as we read Psalm 96.
The kids of PPC are working hard on a Christmas Pageant they can offer from the comfort and safety of home, while the gift of technology allows us to share it with our community. Mark your calendars for Sunday, December 20th, when the PPC Christmas Pageant debuts in worship!
In our Sunday morning prayer service, we encourage perseverance in the face of pandemic fatigue--that we may continue to dig deep, to find and embrace the blessings, joys, and opportunities for growth presented in this season.
The Session of Parkville Presbyterian Church has made the wise and responsible decision to return to online-only worship after Sunday, November 8th. For more information, please see the note below from Pastor Steve. Dear Friends, At last night's Session meeting, we made the wise and responsible decision to return to online-only worship after Sunday, November 8th. That means there will still be an in-person worship service this Sunday at 10am. Weather permitting--and so far, ...Continue reading
Thank you to the many people who brought cookies, crackers, snacks, and water, and thank you to the people who offered warm greetings. This year, we offered a contact-free hospitality table to the voters who came to the polls at PPC, and the gift was greatly appreciated.
Check out the new community center hosted by PPC. And if you share this post, please share Marcus' words along with it. From PPC Member Marcus Flores: "For those who recognize today as a day of action - Check out the new thing we are doing right here in Parkville, Missouri. As we usher in a new chapter in the USA, the community of Parkville is ushering in a new community center unlike any other - a place to bring all of yourself, where we match needs and resources, where relationships are built and no membership needed!"
On Election Day, at the end of election season, we study a text of Christian unity: Colossians 3:1-5, 12-17. This is our Tuesday Morning Bible Study each Tuesday at 10am. Today, we affirm the centrality of new life in Christ over our earthly identities, and talk about our calling to be engaged in civic life and issues of public morality--without also tearing each other apart. All are welcome as we discuss Christian unity in these fractious times.
We barely had time to take pictures, and honestly, so many people came, we lost count. But we believe at least 300 cars carrying at least 1000 people came to our socially distanced, drive-thru trunk-or-treat on Halloween! Through the smiles on the faces of the kids in each car, we know they felt the love of God through God's People!
We have Sunday Morning Prayer every Sunday morning at 8am. This week, we pray for our upcoming All Saints' Day worship service and the coming election and counting season. Let us pray for our church, our community, and our nation, as we pray to God together.
November 1st is All Saints' Day, and the special service we hold this day will be both in-person and live streamed through Zoom. For both online and in-person worshipers, worship will be at 10am. This Sunday, we want to bring our in-person and online worshipping communities together to honor the saints. We'd like everyone, both online and in-person, to be able to raise their voices, name a saint on their minds and hearts, and hear the church bell tone for that person. We'd al...so like everyone to be present for the dedication of pledges for 2021. For online worshipers, worship will be offered through Zoom. If your computer, phone, or tablet has a camera and microphone, you will be able to be seen and have your voice heard during worship. If you do not have a microphone, you can still participate through the chat feature at the bottom of the Zoom window. For most of you, clicking on the link below is all you will need to do to access worship. Those of you who access Zoom through an app will need the Meeting ID and password. The link to join worship for this special day is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88601269022 The Meeting ID is 886 0126 9022 and the password is 819Main. We look forward to seeing you, as we worship God together! And if you can't make it on Sunday at 10am, a recording will be made available later on YouTube.
