10 TIPS FOR WINTER HIKES! Hey, adventurers, winter is a great time to get outdoors and set out on that hike you’ve been planning. Before getting out there, please keep these 10 winter hiking tips, fit for all hiking locations, in mind: 1. Be sure to have a charged cellphone.... 2. Let your friends or family know where you're going. 3. Come prepared with LOTS of water; hydration is super important! 4. Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the weather. 5. Avoid hiking alone unless highly experienced. 6. Be time sensitive! Remember that hiking over snow and ice may take longer than usual, so plan accordingly. 7. Hike in the daylight. It will be easier to navigate incase a trail is obscured by snow or ice. 8. Be sure to have proper gear. Shoes with extra traction and lots of clothing layers are just two examples. 9. Ensure that everything you plan to bring you can carry on your back without much struggle! It’s important to keep on moving, and heavy packing can hinder your pace. 10.
