We are seeing an unprecedented demand on the electrical system across the Midwest due to the extreme temperatures and duration of time these temps are expected ...to drop. WRVEC is issuing a peak alert from now through Wednesday, February 17th. Please reduce the use of electricity during the peak hours 6-10am and 4-8pm. Shifting electricity use outside of these windows, during off peak times, will help to minimize the demand on our load and significantly lower the effect on your bill. Find out more at https://www.whiteriver.org//peak-alert-issued-in-extreme-/

Work has resumed on the Tecumseh access rebuilding project, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project manager Mark Case. The most recent flood caused minor damage and delays, Case said, but area residents should see more progress soon. The bigger issue has been the high lake level that has kept the area submerged over the summer. *** For instant access to the Times e-edition, or to subscribe and have the paper delivered to your mailbox each week, click here:https://b...it.ly/2DwNh2E *** #READlocal : your subscription and advertising support make this locally owned newspaper possible. Oct. 28 is last day county clerk can mail absentee ballots Absentee voting continues at the Ozark County Clerk’s Office in the courthouse. Registered voters may also request a ballot to be mailed to them by calling the clerk’s office (417-679-3516). However, Wednesday, Oct. 28, is the last day the clerk’s office can mail out absentee ballots. To vote after that date, voters must come to the clerk’s office in the courthouse. To save time, registered voters can print off an ap...plication from the Missouri Secretary of State website (sos.mo.gov). Click on elections and voting then voting information and then absentee voting. After completing and signing the application, deliver it to Ozark County Clerk Brian Wise’s office, send it by mail addressed to P.O. Box 416, Gainesville, MO 65655, fax it to 417-679-3209, or attach it to an email addressed to [email protected]. Legislation passed earlier this year changed some requirements related to absentee voting in 2020. While some absentee ballots must be notarized before being mailed back to the clerk’s office, those in an at-risk category of contracting covid, including those age 65 and older, do not have to have their absentee ballot notarized. For details, contact the county clerk’s office or visit the absentee voting section of the Missouri Secretary of State’s website, sos.mo.gov. See more
