Ozark Cedar Hives

Fun to see the ladies out for a little sun today.

I thought I should let you all know that, yes, we will begin making hives for the coming season. We have about 8000 bd. ft. of lumber in the drying porch. The list of orders is growing. We plan to begin shipping hives in January. I hope to post a few more thoughts soon. Thank you for preferring our hives. Your friends, Bob and Kathy Owen

I was able to check all my hive in northwest Missouri this weekend. Only lost one out of 18 so far. I did find some nearly out of honey, so I remoistened the sugar in the top feeders. Too early for liquid sugar water. Praise the Lord the next two weeks looks good for foraging. The bees were very busy bringing in pollen and nectar from the early trees. Can you find the queen in this picture. The brown capped cells under the bees is new brood to replace winter losses.

One of the trees has started, Maybe Maple? Hard to say.

Today is 60 degrees. The bees had been out before today, Feb 17, but today they have found pollen to bring in. Spring has sprung. Go girls!!!
