Republic Services trash and recycling routes may have a delayed start today, Thursday, January 28, 2021, as they complete routes left unfinished due to inclement weather on Wednesday.

Mayor Schneider recently presented service pins to City employees. Julie Drew, Payroll Clerk, received her 15 year pin. Kadi Sanders, Zoning Coordinator, received her 10 year pin.

City Offices will be closed on Friday, January 1, 2021, in observance of New Year. Republic Services trash & recycling will be delayed by one day beginning January 1. Friday service will take place on Saturday, January 2, 2021.

While out on patrol today, Santa’s Little Helpers got to hand out some presents to some great kids on the Nice list that they came across today.

Missouri American Water issued a precautionary boil water advisory for some parts of Overland as of Wednesday, October 21st, due to a water main break. This Advisory is expected to be in effect for approximately 24 hours. Any water to be used for drinking or cooking should be brought to a rolling boil for 3 minutes. We receive a lot of questions about the disposals of needles. You can not drop them in our Drug-Take-Back Box. Here is information on how you can safely disp...ose of them. Sharps Disposal Information Safe Needle and Sharps Disposal Information Missouri does not currently have any designated drop off locations, so first ask your health care provider, pharmacy, hospital, or veterinarian if they will accept your sharps for disposal. Sharps may be disposed of in regular trash after they have been packaged in rigid, leak-proof containers (e.g. detergent bottle, metal coffee can) and tightly sealed. Tape a label with the words Infectious Waste or Biohazard Waste to the outside of the container. Seal the container lid using as strong tape (e.g. duct tape) before placing in trash. Contact your waste hauler to explain how you will be disposing of your sharps and confirm that they will accept. What not to do with these items: Never place loose needles in the trash. Never dispose of containers with used needles in a recycling bin. Never flush sharps down the toilet.

City of Overland offices continue to be open for business with limited access to the public, weekdays 8:00a.m. - 5:00p.m. Lobby access is limited to one person at a time with a prepared Community Development permit/invoice, or to apply for pet licenses, community center memberships, garage sale permits, and other limited items. Applications for Community Development permits are available at www.OverlandMO.org or on the drop box outside of City Hall during business hours. Upon arrival at City Hall, please follow the directions post on the front door.

In observance of Labor Day, all services provided to Overland residents by Republic Services will be delayed by one day beginning Monday, September 7, 2020.

Beginning Aug. 31, breakfast and lunch will be delivered each morning to students at bus stops throughout the Ritenour School District. Only enrolled Ritenour ...students will be eligible to receive the no cost meals. Child Nutrition staff will be on each bus to hand out meals and record students’ names. Meals will be delivered on all days that virtual school is in session. Times and a list of locations have been shared with all families currently enrolled in the district via email and/or text message. All families have been assigned to a stop that is not far from their home. Please note: families can only receive their meals at their assigned stop. If you have any questions about stop locations, please contact our transportation department at (314) 493-6327. Students will receive the same hot meals they enjoyed in the cafeteria. The lunch menu for the first week includes hamburgers, chicken fingers, mini tacos, mozzarella cheese sticks and more! Meals will be delivered frozen with instructions of how to heat them up in a microwave or oven.
