ODESSA!!! I have finally came out of my shock. You outdid yourself by attending our March 2021 BINGO event. We do not have an exact count but believe just over 300 people attended BINGO. Can we just say WOW!!!! I am so proud of everyone for adhering to our requests that any time you were not at your table you wore your masks. While there are always some that complain about Odessa - THIS is why I love it. YOU the people of Odessa and nearby communities are the absolute b...est. We could not help other organizations in January if it wasn't for your support of us. THANK YOU to everyone that came out and played BINGO, that donated prizes, that ate from the concession stand (and supported Project Grad), and to Berry Acres (Angela and Alan Berry) for their fabulous venue. (And a huge thank you to my fellow Odessa Outreach members who took everything in stride) Do you want to make your heart happy and help others at the same time? We always have room for more volunteers so come be part of this group.

SPRING BINGO will be held at Berry Acres in Odessa on Saturday, March 13th! Gather your peeps and make plans to attend!! Many thanks to long-time Odessa Outreach supporters, Jay & Shannon Quick for renting the facility for this awesome event!! The space provided at Berry Acres will allow for social distancing while we all enjoy a great evening for the benefit of Odessa's charities!!! THANK YOU, Jay & Shannon

Don't forget - Thursday, January 14th at 6:00 p.m. is our annual plea night for non-profit 501(c)3 organizations to ask for funding. In order to follow social distancing guidelines, etc. we will be holding the meeting in the south wing of the high school (in an unused classroom). Please park in the south parking lot and we will get you checked in. We ask that you wait in your vehicle until you are called to come in. We also ask that no more that 2 representatives from your group attend and masks must be worn covering both the mouth and nose. If you need an application please feel free to send an email to [email protected] requesting one. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday.

I hope this finds everyone healthy and pray that COVID will end soon. It has affected so many in our community. I am sure most of you, like me, have known someone who was diagnosed positive, came into contact with someone positive, had to quarantine or the worst possible scenario of losing someone. At this time, Odessa Outreach, is planning to hold our annual plea night on Thursday, January 14th. We are planning on holding plea night at the high school (however, that is su...bject to change). In order to follow the guidelines we ask each Non-Profit 501(C)3 group planning to attend: Limit of 2 persons maximum, Masks must be worn during the presentation and cover both the nose and mouth. Wait until you are called to present (our tentative plans are to be in a room at the high school and you can wait in your car or in the commons area until you are asked to present to the committee) These are strange times and everything is like a roller coaster and that includes any plans that we make. So please be patient and we will get through this together. Applications will be available (by late afternoon today) at the Odessan or feel free to request one by sending an email to [email protected] and one will be emailed to you.

There comes a time when you must make a difficult decision. 2020 has been that time for Odessa Outreach. We have made the difficult decision to cancel the October Wreath BINGO as well as the November Turkey BINGO. Hopefully, 2021 will be better for all and we can resume our normal fundraising activities. It is with heavy hearts that Odessa Outreach has made the decision to cancel the 2020 Duck Race. This is one of our larger fund raiser activities but due to the unforeseen events that have taken place this year we felt it was the best decision. We rely on our small businesses in many ways to help support us and some of those businesses have not reopened yet (and may not). Therefore, after a lot of committee discussion, we felt we could not in good conscience ask them for a...ny type of donation. With social distancing still in effect that makes selling the chances very hard to do. We typically have 14-16 non-profit organizations that come to us in January asking for money for specific things they are trying to do. The loss of fundraising from the 2020 Duck Race is going to impact us greatly. We would like to remind everyone that shops through Amazon to please use Smile.Amazon.Com and select Odessa Outreach (or any charity near and dear to your heart) and take advantage of Amazon donating money to us.
