While it'll be dry most of the time Wednesday, a few lingering showers are expected at various times throughout the day. A few weak thunderstorms are also possible across central and northeast MO during the afternoon, but strong or severe thunderstorms are not expected. Otherwise, expect warm and humid conditions during the afternoon, with mostly cloudy skies.

A narrow band of snow will move across northeastern Missouri and southwestern Illinois through late this evening, producing up to an inch of snow with locally higher amounts possible. Snow will fall through midnight, with the highest snowfall rates through 7 pm in Missouri, and 4pm and 9pm in Illinois. Where snow is heavy, visibilities could be restricted and untreated roads could become slippery, impacting the evening commute. If the location of the snow band shifts slightly to the north or south, snowfall accumulations could also shift.

Areas of light snow have developed over western Missouri this evening and will slide northeast through the night, along and north of a Jefferson City to Pittsfield, IL line. It will mainly be all snow, though could see some sleet and rain mixed in at times. Expect all rain south of the Jefferson City/Pittsfield line. The warm ground should keep anything from freezing on roads, though could see isolated slick spots, so please drive carefully! Little or no additional accumulation expected.

Wednesday and Thursday will feature well above normal temperatures and sunny skies, which will make them prime candidates for outdoor activities. However, widespread rain will arrive during the day Friday and continue through sometime Saturday. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 1000 am this morning across central Missouri. Widespread dense fog, with visibility as low as of a mile, will lead to poor driving conditions. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing in these areas overnight, and roadways may become slippery (especially on bridges and overpasses). Exercise caution when driving through fog and stay alert for slippery conditions.

Precipitation will begin to move into our region Monday morning, overspreading the entire area by early afternoon. There is some uncertainty as to the northern extent in northern MO and central IL. The precipitation for most areas will fall as all rain. However, as colder air causes temperatures to slowly fall on Monday, precipitation is expected to mix with or change to snow for a time for much of northern MO and portions of central MO and IL, or areas to the north of the dashed line on the map. Where snow does fall, accumulations of less than an inch, mainly on grassy surfaces, are forecast. Elsewhere, a beneficial rainfall between 1/2" and 1" is expected.
