Nichols Park 28.05.2021

We have had several questions this week about the construction at Nichols Park, so we hope this answers some of them. The Park Board has four parks getting new playground equipment this spring Nichols, Tom Watkins, Meador and Cooper and three of these parks are also getting new walking trails. We started with Nichols, but very quickly ran into water drainage issues near the playground with the spring rain. We waited for it to drain, then ended up pumping the water out, bu...t it filled up again almost immediately. So we moved our contractors to the other locations while we worked on the drainage issues at Nichols. Watkins and Meador are about finished, so they contractors will be returning to Nichols next Thursday, weather permitting. We expect the project to be complete by the end of June. The Nichols playground is going to be AWESOME! See more

The Park Board has replaced the Tammy Haynes Memorial Tree at Nichols Park, adding stakes and ties. Friends, neighbors, please keep an eye on this tree, and everything at our beautiful newly-renovated park. See something that needs attention at the park? Call us at 864-1049. See something suspicious? Call 911 and ask for a park ranger or police to be dispatched.

We will remember longtime Heart of the Westside Neighborhood President, Tammy Haynes, this Tuesday, August 7 at 4:30 p.m. with a tree planting ceremony at Nicho...ls Park. This takes place just prior to the kick-off of National Night Out at 5:00. Tammy passed away on January 17 after battling cancer. We will always remember her for her positive outlook, tireless work, and a heart and soul commitment to her neighborhood and the Northside. Please join us to memorialize Tammy in her beloved Nichols Park.
