It's EMS week! We want to thank all of the EMS workers out there but want to give a special thank you to our employees here at NMCAD. You spend countless days away from your family to serve others. You answer the call no matter what time of day. You come in no matter the weather condition. You work holidays, weekends, birthdays without complaint. Happy Monday Y'all! This Monday we will be featuring Makayla Lowes, EMT-B for Meet Your Medic Monday. Miss Lowes is an EMT at Station 2 located in Portageville. Makayla is one of 5 members on our District's Safety Committee . She has been with New Madrid County Ambulance District for a little over a year now and has had her EMT license for 2 years. Makayla attended Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center where she obtained her EMT license and finished the Paramedic... Program and will be testing soon. Miss Lowes is the mother of a beautiful little baby girl who was born earlier this year. In her free time Makayla enjoys hunting, fishing , gardening , working on her family farm, and spending time with her family and boyfriend. Monday again? You know what that means! Another Meet Your Medic Monday! This month we will be featuring Rustine Barr, EMT-P. Rustine has been with NMCAD for a year now but has had his Paramedic license since 2006 and was an EMT for 4 years prior to that. Mr. Barr began his professional career working for Mason District Hospital in Havana, IL. Mr. Barr has an array of experience. He has worked for Lifestar Ambulance, Pulaski County Ambulance and Alexander County Ambulance. ...Rustine then obtained his NREMTP license and began working for Medic One before coming to our NMCAD family. Rustine works at our Station 1 located in New Madrid. Rustine has a 14 year old son and a loving wife Erin Barr who is also a Paramedic. The two live in southern illinois on about 25 acres of her family's land. In his free time Rustine enjoys playing video games, taking care of his puppies and cats at home, and enjoys the outdoors. We thank you for your hard work and outstanding patient care you have shown the citizens of New Madrid County. Last week we had our annual EVOS (Emergency Vehicle Operations Safety) training and our employees did an outstanding job ! This class keeps all of our staff here at NMCAD up to date on their driving skills! Big thank you to Training Officer Nick Caldwell, EMT-B and Training Coordinator Ted Ivie, EMT-P for putting on another wonderful class.
We are so Incredibly lucky and ecstatic about the remount that was done by Osage Ambulances! This truck has all the bells and whistle 's! Some of which include: A built in UV light to decontaminate the truck quick and efficiently, Onspot chains for safer driving in snow and ice and a whole new and up to date patient compartment. These are only to name a few. Medic 5 will be housed at Station 1 in New Madrid and our crews couldn't be more excited! There is a decal you can see on the truck in to honor the memory of former board president Ralph Barnwell.
Sadly due to COVID-19 we had to cancel our Christmas party in December. We normally announce the Paramedic, EMT, and Employee of the Year during this celebration. We were still able to give these outstanding individuals their much deserved awards! 2020 Paramedic of the Year award goes to Ted Ivie, EMT-P who is the Crew Chief at Station 2 in Portageville. 2020 EMT of the Year award goes to Tyler Robinson, EMT-B who works at our Station 3 in Parma. ... 2020 Employee of the Year award goes to Nick Caldwell, EMT-B who works at Station 4 located in Sikeston. All three of these remarkable individuals are very involved in the District and go above and beyond in all aspects of patient care and daily duties. Thank you gentlemen these awards are well deserved.

One of our crews ran into someone who was very excited to see the ambulance at Walmart yesterday. EMT-B Tripp was thrilled to show the young man all the bells and whistles !
Retired Jim Russell, EMT-B was given a clock and a shadow box from all of us here at NMCAD. There is no gift we could have given him to show how very much his time spent here was appreciated. Thank you Jim for all you have done for this district. We hope you enjoy retirement. We got it from here brother.
We want to Thank Lilbourn VFW for the wonderful time at the banquet hosted on Tuesday. They gave out a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place award to some of our Medics here at NMCAD. The award was for a Special Recognition of Exemplary Services to Humanity by Administering Emergency Medical Services. T.O. Paige Wachter, EMT-P was awarded 1st place and will move on to the state level selection process. C.C. Patrick Garrison, EMT-P was awarded 2nd place. ... C.C Ted Ivie, EMT-P and Micah Tripp, EMT-B tied for 3rd place.

One of our NMCAD family members had his last day working here at NMCAD this week. We are so blessed to have had him as part of our team since 2009. Congratulations on retirement Jim Russell . We are proud to call you one of us. You showed such compassion and empathy to the citizens of New Madrid County and we appreciate all the sleepless nights, days away from your family, and hours you gave to help keep our community safe. We happily announce that Modern Woodman Fraternal Financial named New Madrid County Ambulance District "Hometown Hero's" for 2020. Modern Woodman has given $100.00 on behalf of NMCAD to the Eagle Closet. Our staff here at NMCAD wanted to make a contribution as well. Our staff donated $130.00 for a combined total of $230.00 donated to the Eagle Closet! ... We want to thank Modern Woodman for this great honor and their donation on our behalf. We also want to thank our amazing staff for their contributions as well.

Happy Monday everyone! We have an exciting Meet Your Medic Monday this month! This month we are featuring Brandon Gleason, EMT-P. Brandon plays many roles here at NMCAD. He is the Crew Chief at Station One in New Madrid as well as Field Training Officer. Mr. Gleason is also on our Quality Assurance, Protocol, and Compliance Committee's. Brandon has been in EMS for a total 13 years and a Paramedic for 7 of those. We have been blessed to have him as part of our NMCAD fami...ly for 2 years. Mr. Gleason has previously worked for Air Evac in Poplar Bluff, Butler County EMS, South Scott EMS, Medic One EMS, and Southeast Health of Cape Girardeau Emergency Department. Mr. Gleason is a loving husband to his wife Sheena and together are the parents of 4 beautiful children. In his free time Brandon enjoys Harleys , hiking, camping , and family adventures. We thank you for your hard work and outstanding patient care you have shown the citizens of New Madrid County.
