Looking for Volunteer Groups The Nevada Animal Shelter is looking for a group such as a 4-H/FFA club, church group, or Boy/Girl Scouts. We have 2 wooden benches that need some sanding and fresh paint so they can go out in our play yards. Volunteers would need to bring their own brushes, paint, and sandpaper. Give us a call at 417-448-5109 if your group is interested!
Looking to help the animals, but can't adopt? Sponsor one! Sponsorships pay for spaying, neutering, and vaccinations. This makes the animal's adoption fees cheaper and a lot of times helps them be adopted quicker. Give us a call at 417-448-5109 so we can't tell you more about sponsoring.
Sweet Olive also got a bath today. Olive has been at the shelter since last November. This girl doesn't get much attention, because she needs a home that she is princess! She seems aggressive behind the gate, but once out, she melts like butter and loves to be loved! She would be best with women, but would also warm up to men! Olive is $25 to adopt.

Apollo getting a good scrub today. This handsome guy is up for adoption!
A great big THANK YOU to everyone who has dropped off or sent dog treats to restock our treat shelf! The puppers are super happy to have yummy snacks again. We greatly appreciate you guys and so do the animals here at the shelter!
We have gotten a few calls here at the shelter today asking us about the fire that happened here last night. As far as we can tell, someone put a cigarette in one of our flower boxes out front. It smoldered until about 10pm last night when it finally caught fire. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan driving by called it in and Nevada Fire and local police officers showed up and put it out. There was no damage done to the building and all the animals are fine. It definitely could have been a different story had it not been for the person who called it in. So, we wanted to say a big THANK YOU to them and to our First Responders for coming down and taking care of us and the animals! We greatly appreciate it!
WE ARE FULL! We are full of dogs and really need to get some adoptions, reclaims, or transfers. We posted our most recent adoptable dogs on Friday. Come down and see their cute faces in person or give us a call at 417-448-5109.
The heat is here to stay! Make sure to provide adequate resources such as plenty of water and cool places for your pets to be. If you see a pet without these things please call Animal Control at 417-448-2710.
Colonel came from Nevada and was sent to Furry Kids Refuge a couple of months ago. He is finally out of the boarding facility and into his foster home. He is a huge sweetheart and would love to find his furever home!
WE NEED DOG TREATS We had a box of treats come in that had some tiny mites in them that ended up getting in ALL of the dog treats on our treat shelf. Unfortunately, we had to toss them all. We have cleaned/disinfected and are ready to start new! You can drop off any and all kind of dog treats here at the shelter or you can find some on our Amazon Wish List.
