The Pilot profes...sion is first known to exist in the 7th Century BC and continues to this day. A Pilot's role is to guide the ship through the shallows, the reefs, and the complicated currents that may exist in a harbor. The dangers and the knowledge is so specific that a Captain cannot know each port so well to perfectly navigate the ship safely through to the dock. Neally Law has taken a lesson from this practice.
